UNLV-Arizona State match at Allegiant Stadium

The University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) came to an agreement recently to move its home game against Colorado State up a day, thus making room for its contest against Arizona State to be played at Allegiant Stadium.

The Raiders had laid down that UNLV needed to shift the Colorado State game to October 23 to facilitate the Rebels to play a marquee game against the Pac-12 Sun Devils at the $2 billion Allegiant Stadium on September 12.

The Colorado State Rams football program, established in 1893, represents Colorado State University and is a member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association Division I Football Bowl Subdivision and Mountain West Conference.

Allegiant Stadium is a domed stadium under construction, located in Paradise, Nevada, United States. It will serve as the home stadium for the National Football League (NFL)’s Las Vegas Raiders and the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) Rebels college football team.

The Las Vegas Raiders are a professional American football team based in the Las Vegas metropolitan area. The Raiders compete in the NFL as a member club of the league’s American Football Conference West division. The UNLV Rebels are the intercollegiate athletics teams that represent the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV). The Rebels compete in the NCAA Division I (Football Bowl Subdivision for college football) as a member of the Mountain West Conference.

Construction of Allegiant Stadium began on November 13, 2017, and is expected to be completed in July 2020.

“We are extremely appreciative of the Raiders organization for working with us on hosting the Arizona State game at Allegiant Stadium,” UNLV Athletic Director Desiree Reed-Francois said in a statement.

“… Getting to host two Pac-12 Conference opponents there this Fall will make it an even better experience for our fans and student-athletes,” Reed-Francois added.

The other Pac-12 team on the schedule is California, which visits for the August 29 opener.

The Pac-12 Conference is a collegiate athletic conference that operates in the Western United States, participating in 24 sports at the NCAA Division I level.

The September 5 game against Louisiana Tech is the only home contest that will be played at the Rebels’ old home in Sam Boyd Stadium. The rest of their home games will be played at Allegiant Stadium.

UNLV says it will play six of its seven total home games in 2020 at the $2 billion Allegiant Stadium, which is located near the school’s campus.

The Raiders play Tampa Bay in a nationally televised night game on October 25 this year, and they are seeking extra time to get the field ready to demonstrate a game that will draw considerable attention with Tom Brady playing for the Buccaneers.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are a professional American football team based in Tampa, Florida. The Buccaneers compete in the NFL as a member club of the league’s National Football Conference South division.

However, any of these games might be delayed, shortened or not played at all this upcoming season because of the coronavirus pandemic which is causing huge sufferings the world over, and the United States has been bruised and battered due to the fatal virus.

UNLV has been selling tickets in the hope that they will be allowed to play a season attended by fans.

Some college administrators, including San Jose State Athletic Director Marie Tuite, have said recently it was possible that the season could be played as ghost games.
