Etihad Arena to come alive with Eid concerts

Events are back in Abu Dhabi

While live entertainment has largely been put on hold for the last year due to the global outbreak of COVID-19 whose Delta variant is still causing upheaval in major parts of the globe, concerts are set to make a return in the United Arab Emirate (UAE) capital – Abu Dhabi – from next month onwards.

‘Etihad Arena’ stated that the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) will present Eid Concerts at Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi. Eid will be celebrated with music and entertainment brought by the hugely popular Arabic superstars – Assala Nasri (Syrian musical artiste) and Hussain Al Jassmi (Emirati pianist, composer, musician, and singer who is well known in the Middle East) performing on July 22nd. This will be followed by the performances of Tamer Hosny (Egyptian singer) and Myriam Fares (Lebanese singer) on July 23rd.

It will be a star-studded event at Etihad Arena this Eid! However, strict COVID-19 social distancing measures will be in place to ensure maximum customer safety.

The ‘Etihad Arena’ further stated that tickets are available in Groups of 2, 3 or 4 only due to COVID-19 regulations in place.

The Etihad Arena (initially known as Yas Bay Arena while under construction) is an indoor arena in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, located on the Yas Bay Waterfront district of Yas Island. Designed by HOK, the capacity of the venue is 18,000 and it is operated by Flash Entertainment. The Arena opened its doors in January 2021.

‘Microsoft News’ stated that this year’s Eid Al Adha celebrations (expected to begin on July 20th and continue till July 21st) in Abu Dhabi will feature notable regional talent as mentioned above along with fireworks for three days over the break.

His Excellency Ali Hassan Al Shaiba, Executive Director of Tourism and Marketing, Department of Culture and Tourism, gushed, “We are thrilled to be bringing live concerts back again for the first time since March 2020, featuring the best and brightest regional superstars for our Eid Al Adha celebrations in Abu Dhabi.”

‘Microsoft News’ further stated that as part of the safety procedures, all attendees must be aged 16 years and above, while presenting a negative PCR test result taken within 48 hours and show proof of having taken the second vaccine dose more than 28 days ago prior to the date of the event.

The whole exercise will be done via the AlHosn app where he/she will need to have a gold E mark or * within the app. Meanwhile, attendees between 12 to 16 years of age are required to receive a negative PCR test valid for 48 hours and are not required to be vaccinated.

While all ticket holders must present their Emirates ID or any personal identification for those who are not residents in the country and download the AlHosn app to show their status upon entry.

The Alhosn UAE app is the official COVID-19 testing channel for health authorities in the United Arab Emirates and is an initiative of the Ministry of Health and Prevention.

With concerts from Assala Nasri, Hussein Al Jasmi, Tamer Hosny, and Myriam Fares all on the horizon to be held at the Etihad Arena, the tickets are now available on sale for groups of two, three or four people, starting at Dhs195 on tickets.etihadarena.ae.

Other big-ticket events are also on the agenda at Yas Island’s Etihad Arena this year, including English comedian Michael Mclntyre’s stand-up comedy show on July 16th, ‘An Evening with Russell Peters (Canadian comedian) ’ for September 17th and the Formula 1 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix between December 9th and December 12th.
