The City of Kaiserslautern (Germany) wants to rent out the Fritz-Walter-Stadium this year, but everything will happen in a gradual manner which means that one will not suddenly find the dressing rooms of the main tenant of the facility – the German sports club 1. FC Kaiserslautern or FCK – doubling up as offices.
The ‘SWR’ stated that the main objective of the City of Kaiserslautern is to generate rental income by marketing the stadium. The Fritz-Walter-Stadium boasts an astonishing amount of space – especially in the East Stand area – and companies want to open office in that space. The FCK can continue to use their dressing rooms without any restrictions even when part of the stadium is rented out.
The 49,780-capacity Fritz-Walter-Stadium is the home stadium of 1. FC Kaiserslautern and is located in the City of Kaiserslautern, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. It was one of the stadia used in the 2006 FIFA World Cup™.

The ‘SWR’ further stated that before the Fritz-Walter-Stadion can be rented out to companies, certain things will have to be streamlined. Presently, the 1. FC Kaiserslautern picks up the tabs of the power and water bills of the venue. Once it is partially rented out, everything will have to be segregated – the water and power lines.
The Mayor of Kaiserslautern, Klaus Weichel of the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD), informed that a lot of companies have evinced keen interest in moving into the Fritz-Walter-Stadium as tenants.
Paying off loans
Renting out the arena holds topmost priority for the City as they need to pay off the loans which they had taken to expand the stadium. FCK, as the tenant of the stadium, pays the City the lease money but it is not enough to pay off the loans. If the 3.Liga would have played as a Bundesliga team, the City would not have to think on the lines of renting out the venue.
