As Hong Kong’s largest integrated sports and entertainment hub the Kai Tak Sports Park (KTSP) is dedicated to promoting sports for all and fostering an inclusive community. This Summer, the Kai Tak Sports Park unveiled its brand-new outdoor sports and entertainment zone in the ‘North Garden’ transforming it into a vibrant hotspot for sports, family fun and leisure.
‘KAI TAK SPORTS PARK’ stated that the new facilities feature a Covered Court and a Beach Ball Court, both launched in July, along with a multipurpose tennis court set to open in the third quarter of this year.
The Kai Tak Sports Park is a massive, new, multipurpose sports and entertainment complex in Hong Kong which officially opened on March 1st, 2025, and is located on the site of the former Kai Tak Airport. It is the largest sports infrastructure project in Hong Kong featuring a 50,000-seat stadium, a 10,000-seat indoor arena and a 5,000-seat public sport ground alongside retail and dining facilities. The park aims to boost Hong Kong’s sports and tourism industries and host major international events.

Play Zone
‘KAI TAK SPORTS PARK’ further stated that the new Covered Court is perfect for a range of urban sports including 3-on-3 basketball, futsal and handball and also exciting emerging sports including pickleball, dodgeball, dodgebee, and teqball offering the public a versatile and dynamic sporting experience. Meanwhile, the Beach Ball Court can host two simultaneous beach volleyball matches and is also suitable for beach tennis and beach football events. Equipped with a misting cooling system and washing facilities this court enhances comfort and provides an enjoyable experience for both the athletes and the spectators.
Multipurpose Courts
Set to open in the third quarter the multipurpose tennis courts features three standard courts with a flexible design that allows conversion into basketball or volleyball courts. The courts are suitable for training, community activities and as warm-up venues during major competitions held at the Kai Tak Sports Park. This innovative design enhances the overall synergy of the Sports Park’s sports facilities. In future, the venue will be in a position to host the community tennis tournaments promoting the development of local tennis and providing the athletes with more opportunities for competition and exchange.
Community Participation
To foster a sports culture and maximize the use of the facilities the Covered Court, the Beach Ball Court and the Tennis Court are managed by three professional sports organizations. Through the sports training programs, the regular local and international competitions, the community events, and the youth development initiatives these venues aim to encourage public participation and strengthen social cohesion. Surrounding each venue are the seating areas, the shaded zones and the rest spaces to ensure a comfortable and enjoyable experience for both the participants and the audiences.
Playfield 5
Another highlight is the Playfield 5, a themed children’s playground infused with the traditional Chinese philosophy of the Five Elements – ‘Metal, Wood, Water, Fire, and Earth’. The playground is divided into five distinct zones each offering a unique sensory and educational experience. The Playfield 5 embodies an abstraction of the area’s hilly terrain and historical land use with undulating ‘hills’ designed to invite the young explorers on a journey of discovery. The playground’s colorful palette represents these elements: Yellow for Metal, Green for Wood, Blue for Water, Red for Fire, and Orange for Earth. The facilities feature different textures that represent the Five Elements creating a landscape where various play equipment and inclusive features stimulate the development of the young players’ senses and inspire their understanding of the world.
The key features of the playground include the sand pits, a boulder wall, a zip line, two play towers each over 10 meters high along with interactive playground facilities, and a grassy relaxation zone making it a year-round destination for family enjoyment. To promote inclusion and create a child-friendly recreational space for children of all abilities the Playfield 5 features barrier-free facilities such as specially designed sand pits and trampolines that welcome all the children to play safely and joyfully together.
‘North Garden’
In addition to the new outdoor sports facilities at the ‘North Garden’, the climbing wall located on the Kai Tak Sports Avenue stands at 17.5 meters making it one of the largest covered climbing walls in Hong Kong set to open in phases. The First Phase, featuring an eight-meter auto-belay area (a designated section of an indoor climbing facility with automated belay devices that allow a single person to climb without a partner) suitable for the children and the beginners, will open in the third quarter. The 10-meter top-rope area, the 15-meter speed climbing zone and the 17.5-meter lead climbing zone are expected to open by the end of October allowing the sports enthusiasts to challenge their physical limits. The Park also includes a running track and the GreenWay shared used by the pedestrians and the cyclists. The Dining Cove Section will open in the third quarter of this year providing direct access to the various attractions in the Kai Tak Development Area and offering the travelers a personalized sports and leisure experience.
