Tenders have been floated for a new multifunctional arena to come up in Frankfurt (Germany) which will sit right next to the Deutsche Bank Park.

‘Frankfurter Rundschau’ stated that with bids invited the City of Frankfurt (Germany) has initiated the next steps for the construction of the multipurpose arena in the Frankfurt City Forest. The holding company Sportpark Stadion GmbH recently got the tender exercise rolling with regard to managing the said arena.

The contract for the construction of the multipurpose arena is expected to be awarded by early 2027 and the Sportpark Stadion GmbH hopes to open the arena in 2030.

Frankfurt is planning a new multifunctional arena to host sporting events, concerts and conferences.

The 58,000-capacity Waldstadion, currently known as the Deutsche Bank Park for sponsorship purposes, is a retractable roof sports stadium in Frankfurt, Hesse, Germany. It serves as the home stadium of the Bundesliga (the top tier of the German football league system) club Eintracht Frankfurt and opened in the year 1925.

The Sportpark Stadion GmbH is a holding company of the City of Frankfurt am Main (Hesse, Germany) and is responsible for overseeing the various sporting facilities including the Deutsche Bank Park Stadium.

The Frankfurt City Forest or Frankfurter Stadtwald is a forest district in the South of Frankfurt am Main, Germany. There are also other forest areas spread out throughout the City (Frankfurt).

‘Frankfurter Rundschau’ further stated that the Sportpark Stadion GmbH has put in place a contract-ready conclusion for the company who will win the tender bid process. The price tag for the planned venue has been pegged at three-digit million euros and steps are being initiated to develop the site where the above arena will stand.

A contract-ready conclusion means the finalization of an agreement between the parties where all the relevant terms are clearly defined and agreed upon making it legally binding and enforceable. It signifies that the contract is complete and there are no outstanding issues that would prevent it from being executed. Essentially, it’s the point where the contract is considered finalized and ready for implementation.

Maintained Mike Josef (Social Democratic Party of Germany [SPD]), Mayor of Frankfurt, “We are happy with the progress being made on constructing a multifunctional arena in Frankfurt which once operational will be able to stage concerts, ice hockey and basketball. The floating of the tender process is one step forward for the planned arena project and once the venue comes on stream it will bring about a sea change to the entire sporting landscape in the City of Frankfurt.”
