Deutsche Bank Park opens new attraction Image: Deutsche Bank Park

One of Germany’s largest climbing parks has been officially opened at Deutsche Bank Park home of Bundesliga club Eintracht Frankfurt.

Deutsche Bank Park said a cast of dignitaries were on hand to cut the symbolic red ribbon – which was then spectacularly lowered from a climbing tower by experienced climbers.

Following the opening ceremony around 100 lucky employees of naming rights partner Deutsche Bank, selected by lottery, had the chance to explore the climbing forest in all its facets.

Frankfurt’s Mayor Mike Josef said, “This climbing park offers our citizens a completely new perspective on our city, in the truest sense of the word, and complements the already extensive sports cluster.

“Here, in the immediate vicinity of our sports park and the stadium pool, everyone – from young to old – can demonstrate their skills and abilities in a mix of fun and challenge. This is a great leisure program, especially for families and groups.”

The 58,000-capacity Waldstadion, currently known as Deutsche Bank Park for sponsorship purposes, is a retractable roof sports stadium in Frankfurt, Hesse, Germany. The home stadium of the football club Eintracht Frankfurt, it opened in 1925.

Eintracht Frankfurt e.V. is a German professional sports club based in Frankfurt, Hesse (Germany). It is best known for its football club, which was founded on March 8th, 1899. The club currently plays in the Bundesliga, the top tier of the German football league system.

The new attraction’s varied courses consist of 150 climbing elements and has a total length of over two kilometers.

The routes are divided into easy, medium, and difficult versions according to difficulty levels.

Highlights include a cable car course with a skyline view, a partner course that can only be completed in pairs, and a particularly challenging course accessible to people aged 12 and over.

The central elements of the area are five mega towers with a height of up to 29 meters, from whose treetop-level platform a magnificent view of the Frankfurt skyline and Deutsche Bank Park can be enjoyed.

Several low climbing trails are also available for children aged four and over and beginners who don’t want to climb to great heights right away.

Patrik Meyer, Managing Director of Eintracht Frankfurt Stadion and Kletterwald added, “The opening of the climbing forest is another milestone in our partnership with Deutsche Bank, which is naming the entire site.

“With its diverse offerings, the park-like area is increasingly becoming a meeting place in the region.”

Thorsten Held, Managing Director of Weitblick Naturerlebnis and Kletterpark Stadion Frankfurt, adds: “We have many years of experience and place great value on sustainability and the safety of climbers. This location is truly exceptional, with breathtaking views of the Frankfurt skyline.”

Tim Alexander, CMO of Deutsche Bank, adds, “The climbing forest is a unique addition to Deutsche Bank Park as an adventure and meeting place. It allows its visitors to grow safely through challenges. This also characterizes our Deutsche Bank brand. We enable our customers to unlock their potential, make more of their financial opportunities, and thus surpass themselves. As Deutsche Bank, we support our customers in this out of deep conviction.”
