Coliseum Summit EUROPE press release

Amsterdam will play host this month to the first European edition of Coliseum Summit – a leading name in international stadium and sports venue business conference.

The Coliseum Summit EUROPE will be held on March 15-16 at the iconic Amsterdam ArenA, a historic venue which is poised for major upgrades within the next few years. The event will be inaugurated by Kajsa Ollongren, Vice Mayor, City of Amsterdam.

Over 200 delegates from the sports venue industry, mostly representing the top European clubs and stadiums, are expected to participate in the two-day event.

The conference has been formatted to highlight 11 different segments of the stadium business and will see presentations from more than 30 expert speakers. This will include representatives from top sporting bodies such as the English Premier League, Dutch FA, French Football League, AEG, Liverpool FC, West Ham United, FC Barcelona, Stadion Energa Gdansk, Huawei, Disney Institute, Lagardere etc.

Participating delegates will also get unique ‘behind the scene’ experiences through three venue tours that would include Ziggo Dome, a 17,000-seat multi-use indoor arena; the historic Olympic Stadium built for the 1928 Games; and of course the Amsterdam ArenA, the largest stadium in the country.

Some of the key sessions of this year’s Coliseum Summit Europe will be on the following topics:

  • One club, one brand, one destination: FC Barcelona’s road to Espai Barça – The making of a world-class sports campus in the heart of Barcelona
  • West Ham United: Moving into the Olympic Stadium
  • Expanding Anfield
  • What kind of content/data is beneficial for the venue?
  • EURO 2016 as catalyst: Improving spectators experience, increasing stadia attendances
  • All we need to know about stadium security.
  • Creating a distinctive fan experience
  • IT and venue technology is taking over the whole venue business. How big exactly is the role of IT within the venue?
  • Definition of Fan experience? Different fan groups have different expectations.
  • Boutique stadia: The fifth generation: chances & challenges

Coliseum Summit is the only global sports venues business summit with 4 dedicated stadium and arena conferences per year in 4 key regions in the world: Europe, Americas, Asia and the Middle East.

“Coliseum Summit brings together all the stakeholders under one roof without splitting the delegates in different rooms for categorized sessions. The idea is to offer a ‘looking-over-the-edge-of-the-plate’ view to all the participants as Coliseum Summit believes that it is important to learn from the associate industry and business segments that feed the global sports venue sector,” says Michael Rennschmied, CEO of MJR Group, the organisers of the Coliseum Summits.
