Meydan One

Meydan One, Dubai’s latest mega project, will be home to a multipurpose indoor sports facility. Earlier this month, Dubai ruler Sheikh Mohamed bin Rashid Al Maktoum laid the foundation stone for the Meydan One mega project. The project is expected to be completed in 2020 in conjunction with Dubai Expo.

The centre point of the much anticipated project will be the Meydan One Mall, which will be Dubai’s biggest with an area of over 30,000 square metres of indoor and outdoor space, and feature the world’s largest dancing water fountain.

A 25,000 square metre indoor multi-purpose sports facility will be located within the Meydan One Mall, providing regulation size sports fields and courts to cater to football, basketball, volleyball, squash, racquetball, paddle ball, table tennis, badminton, indoor cricket, mixed martial arts, boxing, jogging, softball, baseball batting cage and a golf driving range, while skiing and snowboarding will be facilitated on the world’s longest ski slope, measured at 1km.

An indoor theme park that links to the aquatic park, will provide a kids’ zone, miniature golf, and an outdoor go-kart circuit. Meydan One will feature a 1km-long indoor ski slope too.

Meydan One Park will incorporate many extreme sports including a rock climbing wall, skateboarding and BMX parks and mountain biking trails. Sports enthusiasts and visitors alike will enjoy over 9km of bike and jogging trails within Meydan One that connect to the greater Meydan cycling network. Outdoor sports options will also include football pitches.

The project is an extension Meydan’s development of Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum City at the heart of Dubai, which links the flamboyant Gulf city with the world of international horse racing and equestrian events, encompassing a wide range of commercial developments, hospitality, sports, entertainment and amusement services, state-of-the-art business parks, residential villa communities, schools, hospitals, retail destinations and business towers with luxury waterfront developments.
