The United Arab Emirates (UAE), which in recent times has emerged as the entertainment hub of the Middle East, now has a swanky new attraction in its capital: Warner Bros World Abu Dhabi, local media reported.

Two of the top UAE leaders – Vice President and Ruler of Dubai Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al Maktoum and Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed – inaugurated the $1-billion theme park on the night of July 23 ahead of its public opening on July 25, The National reported.

“Mohammed bin Rashid & I were delighted to inaugurate Warner Bros. World, the world’s 1st Warner Bros-branded indoor theme park on Yas Island. We are developing the tourism sector to position the UAE among top global destinations for family entertainment & leisure,” Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed tweeted.

Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi is another tourist attraction that will contribute to the promotion of family tourism in Yas Island. We will continue to translate our strategic development plans into reality to achieve global leadership,” the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince added.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid also tweeted while posting photos from the inaugural event. “With my brother, Mohammed bin Zayed, during the inauguration of Warner Bros Abu Dhabi, one of the largest indoor entertainment cities in the world. A new milestone in our capital. A new destination for our families and an important step to consolidate the tourism sector in our national economy,” he said.

The $1-billion theme park spread in an area of over 1.6 million square feet (150,000 square meter) in Abu Dhabi’s Yas Island took seven years to build and has a total of 29 rides. It contains six immersive zones: Gotham City, Metropolis, Cartoon Junction, Bedrock, Dynamite Gulch, and Warner Bros Plaza. Each zone will feature live performance shows and superhero characters.

Quite interestingly, this year’s Coliseum Summit MENA will be held at the Yas Marina Circuit in Yas Island on September 19 and 20. The summit will see participation from top UAE entertainment venues including Warner Bros World Abu Dhabi, Dubai Opera and DXB Entertainment.

The Coliseum Summit MENA will offer a great opportunity to these mega venues to learn from each other in terms of experience (parking, food & beverage), ticketing, security etc. Owing to the similarities between entertainment and sports venues, each to the sectors can learn and benefit from each other.

Coliseum is dedicated towards building the best global community of sports venue executives and professionals. The Coliseum platform consists of 5 stadium and arena conferences each year (Europe, US, Latin America, Asia and Middle East), an online center of knowledge, daily updates about sports venue development around the world and strategic guidance for our partners.
