BC Place (Canada) is ready to safely welcome fans and events back into the stadium this year with strict COVID-19 protocols in place.

‘Global News’ stated that BC Place Stadium has not had fans for a sporting event since the Rugby Sevens last March. BC Place is now getting ready to greet spectators back and maybe this year.

The 54,500-capacity BC Place is a multipurpose stadium located at the North side of False Creek, in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. It is owned and operated by the BC Pavilion Corporation, a Crown corporation of the province.

Stated Jenna Visram, BC Place Director Events/Guest Experience, “We are looking back for the time when we can invite people back into the building and our No. 1 priority is always to do so safely and make sure that our guest and our staff are always safe when they come into this building.”

‘Global News’ further stated that in the very near future, BC Place will once again welcome fans inside the stadium and when it does, it will be a touchless experience. Once fans walk through the doors, it will begin with tickets being scanned from the phones.

Brad Parker, BC Place Director Safety/Security, remarked, “So, we have gone totally touchless for entries. We have started obviously with our metal detectors on the outside. People bringing in bags and things will be checked outside. We have these new metal detectors. Fans do not have to take out their keys, their phones and their chains. They can walk right through which really increases our floor rates in getting people into the building and for the most part we do not have to search them or anything like that.”

The hands-off approach continues to rule the building. All concession purchases will be cashless transactions using debit and credit card and right now the inside of BC Place is spotless.

Added Visram, “We actually have achieved our GBACs. So, it’s the Global Biorisk Advisory Council and Accreditation. So, that is an accreditation which focuses on the sanitization and cleanliness of a venue. So, what will happen is after each event you know we will sanitize all of the seats and the high touch points will be cleaned in a minimum of every two hours. So, cleanliness is at the forefront.”

The preliminary plan comeback is to have 4,000-5,000 fans for games sitting in pods of 46 people. If all goes well, seating capacity will increase. Same for the number of events BC Place will host.

This is a venue that normally has 200 days of a calendar year booked solid.

Stated Duncan Blomfield, BC Place Marketing & Communications Officer, “On the horizon we can see hopefully the opportunity to what I will see is reintroducing the quality of life – bringing families together, experiencing the magic moment that really is about the memories that last a lifetime and just delivering the quality of life that we are looking for to enjoying the game.”
