The winning project for the renovation of the Artemio Franchi Stadium in Florence, Italy, was presented on March 7th. The redecoration work is expected to start in Autumn 2023 and will be over by 2026.

The ‘Città di Firenze’ stated that the whole rejig work will be done with funds taken from the Recovery Fund. The revamp work will include covering the stands of the facility with a thin metal blade positioned above the stands which will allow spectators close view of the pitch action.

The 43,147-capacity Artemio Franchi Stadium is a football stadium in Florence, Italy. It is presently the home of ACF Fiorentina.

The ACF Fiorentina is an Italian professional football club based in Florence, Tuscany, Italy.

The ‘Città di Firenze’ further stated that in the space between the new and original curves, a museum for exhibition spaces (in the Ferrovia Curve) and an auditorium (in the Fiesole Curve) will be created. The Campo di Marte area will also be modified and a park, hospitality center and a commercial center will be set up.

The sustainability factor will be accorded highest priority and the roof will be made of photovoltaic panels. Renewable energy will be supplied to the sports facility as well as other buildings surrounding the development.

The stadium revamp price tag has been pegged at approximately 450 million euros – redevelopment of the stadium and the Campo di Marte area stands at 150 million euros, 250 million euros for infrastructure and the tramway line, plus circa 30 million euros for the construction of 3,000 parking spaces.
