A new speedway stadium will come up in Lublin, Poland, and the price tag is expected to be PLN 200 million.

The stadium is to be built in the Bystrzyca Valley, in part of the area where sits the Lublin Riding Club.

‘Posts English’ stated that fans have been demanding a state-of-the-art facility (speedway) for a long time now. And they have made it clear that they do not want the new facility to be an old version of the speedway stadium in Aleje Zygmuntowskie in Lublin, Poland. They have also written to the Mayor of Lublin, Krzysztof Żuk, in this regard.

Stadion MOSiR Bystrzyca is a multiuse stadium in Lublin, Poland. It is currently used mostly for motorcycle speedway matches. The stadium holds 13,000 people.

The fans say that the Stadion MOSiR Bystrzyca does not have much elbow room and cannot hold too many spectators. Moto racing buffs do not get the opportunity to watch their favorite teams in action as the venue cannot hold too many spectators. The fans demanded that the new speedway stadium should be on the line of Speedway Ekstraliga because they deserve a much better facility.

The Speedway Ekstraliga is the top division of motorcycle speedway in Poland. It has been called the “richest and most popular speedway league in the world”, and attracts riders from all over the world. The Ekstraliga has the highest average attendances for any sport in Poland.

The City Hall announced recently that the design of the new stadium will be developed by the Poznań-based design studio Kavoo Invest and the Wrocław-based company Sybilski, Wesoły and Partners Constructions.

‘Posts English’ further stated that architects will get one-and-a-half years time in hand from signing the design deal to deliver the stadium design. The contract is to be for 7.4 million PLN.

It will be a fully roofed sports and recreation facility that will operate as a speedway stadium and will accommodate 17,000 to 20,000 fans.

Informed Joanna Stryczewska of Lublin City Hall, “Keeping the safety quotient in mind, the lower row of seats will be above the top edge around the track. The track will be separated from the stands by a fence and equipped with kinetic bands, and the designer’s task will be to take out pages from Speedway Ekstraliga, the Polish Automobile and Motorcycle Federation or the International Motorcycling Federation.”

The facility will be a multipurpose one with events like motorcycle racing, supercross, karting, drifting, freestyle, motocross, and mini-slag to be held. Additionally, concerts, shows, volleyball, handball, basketball fixtures, horse shows, exhibitions, fairs, and conferences will also be held.

A new park and recreation space and a green recreational area with play elements including a canoe harbor will come up. Architects will also have to keep in mind that huge parking spaces will have to be created.

Since a 20,000-capacity speedway stadium is being planned, there will have to be space for at least 4,000 vehicles to be parked. Spaces will have to be available for personal vehicles as well as coaches.

Though the decision to build the new arena has come under a lot of flak, but this has not deterred the City Hall authorities from going forward with its decision to invite the Poznań-Wrocław consortium to sign the contract.
