The National Football League (NFL) team Buffalo Bills (US) Executive Vice-President (EVP)-cum-head honcho Ron Raccuia projects a ceremonial groundbreaking of Bills planned new venue “within 30-45 days”.

The just-out third set of renderings of the Bills’ venue is an ode to their impassioned fans – Bills Mafia.

‘SPORTS BUSINESS JOURNAL’ stated that Raccuia said on March 27th that the “new cost of the Bills venue is $1.54 billion and the Bills are responsible for the $140 million overrun.”

The Buffalo Bills are a professional American football team based in the Buffalo metropolitan area. The Bills compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the league’s American Football Conference East division. The team plays its home games at the Highmark Stadium in Orchard Park, New York, US.

The 71,608-capacity Highmark Stadium is a stadium in Orchard Park, New York, US, in the Southtowns of the Buffalo metropolitan area. The stadium opened in 1973 as the Rich Stadium and is the home venue of the Buffalo Bills of the National Football League (NFL).

The 62,000-capacity planned venue of the Bills will be built adjacent to the Erie Community College’s South campus across the street from the Highmark Stadium, which would be demolished. The stadium will be designed by the celebrated design studio Populous, who has previously designed 12 other active NFL stadiums, with which the new Orchard Park stadium will share numerous design elements and features.

‘SPORTS BUSINESS JOURNAL’ further stated that the Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz stressed that it “won’t cost taxpayers any more money because the terms of the stadium deal cap public contributions toward the project.”

Poloncarz said all cost overruns and any increases “are to be borne by the Bills”.

He added that the final document for the project “has not been completed, but is likely to happen soon”.

Poloncarz expects the signed stadium agreement to be “sent to the Erie County Legislature soon”.

The team released new renderings of the stadium, which “feature a full exterior view, an idea of the facility’s height, the mechanics to prevent a swirling wind on the field and Bills-centric touches within the building.”

The full view of the stadium’s West side “features a tailgate area in the parking lots and a club-level atrium.”

Raccuia said part of what they are showing is “how the branding will look and also the scale of the building”.

Raccuia added that one rendering is the “first full interior bowl” look. A sideline will “include a lower level, two levels of suites, the NFL’s first-ever ‘upper-deck club’, as well as field-level club seats.”

An exterior rendering “features the brick and metal configuration that will help prevent wind from being a factor in the game and an inconvenience for fans.”

Raccuia said that it was “important” to the Bills to have a club area “big enough to comfortably host large gatherings before the game”.

Fan-centric

‘BUFFALO BILLS’ stated that the Bills stadium is being designed for its fans.

It will be a celebration of the Bills Mafia’s (Bills fans) passion for the team, reflecting Bills’ sense of community and the team’s impact on the game.

The Bills Mafia’s influence on the game is undeniable – and the Bills want that passion to swell throughout the stadium. The Bills’ stadium third set of renderings reflect early conceptual thinking on how the Bills brand and fan culture may be represented.

Concept 1 (Flag Bar)

‘BUFFALO BILLS’ further stated that this concession concept offers a rally cry destination for Bills Mafia, which will capture the energy, community and eclectic character of tailgating inside the stadium. Inspired by the fans and built for the fans!

Concept 2 (Bills Logo in the Concourse)

The Bills logo is in 3 dimensions! This concept reflects the power and intensity of the Bills logo. It’s a celebration of the stadium structure, the electric energy of the Bills Mafia and the power of the Blue and Red! This experience would be spanning multiple levels of the stadium, providing moments that amplifies the Bills Mafia passion throughout the entire stadium journey on gameday.

Concept 3 (Shout Wall)

The Bills’ rally cries will come to life!

Bills’ new stadium will reflect and celebrate the sounds they know so well!

The third set of New Bills Stadium Renderings highlights Bills brand and the fan culture.
