After a few months in-the-waiting, the Brazilian sports club Santos FC struck a deal with the Brazilian conglomerate WTorre for the renovation of their residence – the Vila Belmiro in Santos, Brazil.

‘athletistic.com’ stated that much to the glee of its fans and high-on-hopes, the Santos reached an agreement recently with the WTorre for the total redevelopment of Vila Belmiro. The agreement reached is like a memorandum of understanding (MoU) that will serve as a document of proof to start redecoration work on Santos’ home facility.

The Santos Futebol Clube, commonly known simply as Santos or Santos FC, is a Brazilian sports club based in Vila Belmiro, a bairro (neighborhood) in the City of Santos (Brazil). It is also the team that boasts the most goals in football history.

The 16,068-capacity Urbano Caldeira Stadium, also known as Vila Belmiro, is an association football stadium located in the Vila Belmiro neighborhood of Santos, São Paulo (Brazil), and is the home of Santos FC.

São Paulo (Brazil)-based the WTorre is a Brazilian conglomerate that operates in the engineering and construction, real estate development, entertainment, infrastructure, and logistics sectors. The group’s holding company, WTorre S.A., was founded in 1981.

‘athletistic.com’ further stated that few chairs of the venue have been put up for grabs the proceeds of which will go towards the rejig work of the arena. Though the facility redevelopment work was scheduled to start in April as the club was founded on April 14th, 1912, the same did not materialize.

The redecorated Vila Belmiro will be able to hold 30,000 spectators and will be divided into four sectors: Grandstand, Premium, Box, and the Superior Grandstand. It will be built in an area of 71,690 m², with 27 internal and 36 external stores, in addition to parking slots to be made available for 576 vehicles.

No deadline has been set for the venue revamp work and in the meantime the team will continue using the stadium for its home games. Of late, the top-flight is not in its best of form on the pitch and stands the risk of getting relegated. If the club gets relegated, it will be the first time in its history that Santos will suffer a major setback. Santos is pulling out all stops to avoid relegation. It plays in Campeonato Brasileiro Série A, the top of the Brazilian football league system.
