The Chief Executive of the Los Angeles 2028 (LA28) Summer Olympic Games Katy Carter has stepped down from her position as preparations enter the new phase for the event.

‘REUTERS’ stated that Katy Carter first joined LA28 in 2018 and was named the Chief Executive in 2021 focusing on negotiating corporate sponsorship deals. Carter will now be switching to a new role as the Senior Advisor.

The 2028 Summer Olympics, officially known as the Games of the XXXIV Olympiad, and commonly known as Los Angeles 2028 or LA28, is an upcoming international multisport event scheduled to take place from July 14th-30th, 2028 in and around Los Angeles, California, United States.

‘REUTERS’ quoted Carter as stating, “As anticipated, because LA28 is moving from a commercial and planning phase to an operational and delivery phase, now is the right time for me to pass the torch. As of 2024, I will transition from my role as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and am honored to continue with LA28 as the Senior Advisor.”

LA28 Chairperson Casey Wasserman said Carter had been a “driving force behind the first phase of our strategic plan. As that phase nears completion, we have undoubtedly built a strong foundation for the next four years, and now is the time to transition to the next phase.”
