China’s Shenzhen will be soon home to Bayern Munich’s third stadium. The German Football Club made the announcement recently as renovation works at its Allianz Arena in Munich nears completion, while the reserve arena not far away is also almost complete.

Recently Bayern played AC Milan at the Universiade Stadium in Longgang district of Shenzhen. The new stadium is being planned just 1.5km north of the Longgang venue, according to media reports.

Earlier in March this year, the German club had confirmed plans of building a modern football school in Shenzhen, which has a population of 17 million and located strategically closed to Hong Kong. Shenzhen is also one of the best connected cities in China, which makes it an ideal place for Bayern’s Chinese football school.

The club has recently released some images that offer a peek into what exactly is being planned. The football school is expected to accommodate 1,000 young players in the main building, which will also be connected with the main stadium, able to host over 2,000 people during games.

Training fields will be located just 15 minutes walk west of the central building. Five full-sized fields and 11 futsal pitches are being planned to provide the necessary facilities for development of future stars. The entire complex is scheduled for completion in 2019.

Meanwhile, Bayern’s second stadium is almost finished in northern Munich, just 2.5km west of Allianz Arena. The reserve arena will host 2,500 people from the forthcoming 2017-18 season, and will be home to U17, U19 and women’s teams of Bayern. The project is worth €70 million and will also include 7 training fields, 35 apartments for players and secondary facilities.

More details on Bayern’s Shenzen plans are expected to be revealed at the upcoming Coliseum Summit ASIA-PACIFIC, October 25-26, 2017 in Beijing, China.
