Salford City Council to fully acquire the Salford Community Stadium Image: Salford Red Devils

The Salford City Council recently took a decision to fully acquire the Salford Community Stadium in Eccles, England (UK).

‘salfordreddevils.net’ quoted Paul King, Managing Director (MD) of Salford Red Devils, as stating, “It’s great news that the Council have now taken the decision to fully acquire the stadium.”

Salford (UK)-based the Salford City Council is the local authority for the City of Salford, a Metropolitan borough with City status in Greater Manchester, England (UK). It is a Metropolitan Borough Council and provides the majority of local Government services in the City.

The Salford Red Devils are a professional rugby league club in Barton upon Irwell, Greater Manchester, England (UK). They play their home games at the Salford Community Stadium and compete in Super League, the top tier of the British rugby league system. The Salford Red Devils have won the League Championship (the second highest division of rugby league in Britain) six times and the Challenge Cup (knockout rugby league Cup competition) once.

The 12,000-capacity Salford Community Stadium is a rugby stadium in Barton-upon-Irwell, England (UK) and serves as the residence of the Salford Red Devils and the Sale Sharks rugby union club.

The Sale Sharks is a professional rugby union club from Greater Manchester, England (UK). Its team plays in Premiership Rugby and have been in England’s top division of rugby union system continuously since 1995.

‘salfordreddevils.net’ further quoted King as stating, “It’s been a long road to get to this point and the decision is another step towards a sustainable and bright future for the Salford Red Devils. We look forward to sitting down with the Council and the Sale Sharks and agreeing to a tenancy deal that works for us all and secures the long-term future of rugby league in our City.”
