The magic of Christmas is coming to the Riyadh Air Metropolitano stadium as it hosts ‘Madrid on Ice.’

Atlético Madrid said that an ice rink covering more than 4,760m² will be built around the hallowed turf at the stadium, creating a spectacular skating experience.

The rink will have a capacity for more that 1,500 skaters to take to the ice at the same time, making the stadium one of the largest skating rinks in Europe.

Atlético Madrid, or simply Atlético, is a Spanish professional football club based in Madrid (Spain) that plays in LaLiga (the top professional men’s football league in Spain).

The club play their home games at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano which has a capacity to accommodate 70,460 spectators.

The Estadio Metropolitano, also referred to as the Estadio Riyadh Air Metropolitano since earlier this year for sponsorship reasons, is a stadium in Madrid, Spain. It has been the home venue of the Atlético Madrid since the 2017-2018 seasons.

‘Madrid on Ice’ will run from 21 December until 5 January when visitors will be able to enjoy all the thrills and spills of the skating experience.

But ‘Madrid on Ice’ will be much more than ice-skating. It will also include workshops for children and adults, light shows on the ice and other surprises that will complete a unique experience on these very special dates.

In addition, there will be stalls selling churros and chocolate, roasted chestnuts and cotton candy, allowing visitors to enjoy all the tastes of Christmas as well.
