Vision for new Perth Park Image: Perth Park

Perth in western Australia is getting a new world-class motorsport and entertainment complex that will include a purpose-built street circuit for the Supercars Championship.

Austadiums said that located on the banks of the Swan River adjacent to Optus Stadium, the new A$217.5 million Perth Park precinct will transform the region into a vibrant hub for motorsport, live entertainment, and community activity.

Perth Park’s design brings together a variety of facilities under one integrated precinct. Key components include landscaped parkland with a significantly expanded urban forest — the plan doubles the existing tree canopy and incorporates up to 150,000 new plants.

There will be a new multi-use building offering event, function and sporting spaces, plus two indoor courts equipped for disability sport and indoor codes such as basketball, badminton, tennis and rugby.

The centerpiece will be a 3.4km street circuit, designed to FIA Grade 3 specifications, capable of reaching speeds of up to 230km/h. The track will be used for a new annual three-day Supercars event starting in 2028.

The new motorsport circuit will be constructed using a combination of new and upgraded existing roads and will include 12 turns, multiple spectator mounds, and a main straight designed for high-speed racing.

The track’s inner section will remain accessible for community events and recreational use throughout the year, ensuring year-round activation of the venue.

According to an independent business case by economics firm ACIL Allen, Perth Park is expected to generate roughly A$61 million in new economic activity annually, offering a strong benefit-cost ratio of 1.84.

The precinct is pitched not just as an event destination but as a community resource: outside of major events the parkland and many of the facilities will be open and available for public recreation, from casual visits to organised sports and family outings.

Western Australia Premier Roger Cook said: “Sitting alongside Belmont Park Racecourse and Crown Perth, Perth Park will bring together Optus Stadium, the State Tennis Centre, and new world-class facilities to create something truly iconic for our state. It’s about creating legacy – more events, more visitors, and more jobs.”

Sport and Recreation Minister Rita Saffioti added: “Perth Park will be a world-class hub for community, entertainment, culture, arts, and sport. It’s the perfect place for Western Australian families to enjoy parklands, events, and now top-tier motorsport.”

The new Supercars street race at Perth Park will replace the long-running Perth SuperSprint at Wanneroo Raceway from 2028, marking a new chapter for motorsport in WA.

Perth Park is being delivered by an alliance of Seymour Whyte, Civmec, and Aurecon, working with the Office of Major Infrastructure Delivery and Infrastructure WA.

Construction is slated to begin in early 2026, with the aim of opening Perth Park in 2027.
