Long-term future for Gold Coast Suns at People First Stadium Image: Stadiums Queensland

The Australian Football League’s (AFL) Gold Coast Suns will continue to call People First Stadium home under a new long-term partnership with Stadiums Queensland.

Stadiums Queensland said the Suns have agreed to continue playing at the stadium for another 10 years.

Full management of the venue will also transfer to venue owner Stadiums Queensland on 1 March 2026 following an agreement with current lease holder, the AFL.

Carrara Stadium, currently known as People First Stadium for sponsorship reasons, is a stadium on the Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia, located in the suburb of Carrara.

The 27,500-capacity venue is primarily used for Australian rules football, serving as the home ground of the Gold Coast Suns, who compete in the AFL.

Melbourne (Australia)-based the Australian Football League (AFL) is a company operating the premier and fully professional competition of Australian Rules football and the AFL Women’s and other competitions.

Stadiums Queensland Chief Executive Todd Harris said that securing the Gold Coast Suns at People First Stadium for another 10 years reinforces the important impact the club and the AFL has on the Gold Coast region.

He said, “The Suns had a standout season last year, alongside a huge calendar of events at the venue. We are delighted they have recommitted to People First Stadium for years to come.”

Harris said the Gold Coast has a growing reputation for major event attraction and delivery.

He added, “People First Stadium is an important part of Queensland’s major event network, and this shift will help drive stronger, more streamlined operations across the State’s venues on the pathway to Brisbane 2032. We are proud to be a part of it.”
