Sacramento Republic FC has chosen Moorefield Construction as General Contractor and Lund Construction to build the public infrastructure around the club’s new soccer stadium at the Downtown Sacramento Railyards.

Sacramento Republic FC said that Moorefield Construction will oversee the project’s workforce, manage subcontractors, and direct the day-to-day building of the stadium that will rise as a new civic landmark and anchor the transformation of Sacramento’s downtown Railyards.

Lund Construction’s scope of work includes new and improved streets, sidewalks, a paseo, water and sewer infrastructure, storm drain systems, and a new public bike trail.

The public infrastructure work will create a connected, walkable public realm around the stadium and provide the backbone infrastructure for the broader buildout of the 31-acre plot that will also include a new neighborhood for the region.

Sacramento Republic FC is one of the premier clubs in the USL Championship. Since 2014, the club has reflected the indomitable nature of California’s capital City breaking league records year over year, winning the championship in its inaugural season and sparking a regional passion for soccer.

The new privately-funded 12,000-seat soccer stadium in the downtown Sacramento Railyards district is part of a larger Railyards redevelopment project and will be expandable to 20,000+ seats in a future phase.

Unique elements of the new stadium including a Supporters’ Plaza, the rooftop club with views back to the city’s skyline, the park-like eastern concourse, an open-air public-market and beer-garden inspired culinary options, entry plazas, and the West tower that will feature a variety of new premium seating option

The club currently plays at Heart Health Park, a sports venue located on the grounds of Cal Expo in Sacramento, California, United States. The soccer-specific stadium has a capacity of 11,569 and includes a full-sized (120 x 80 yard) soccer field.

Pegasus Development is leading the entire project for Wilton Rancheria and Republic FC.

Pegasus Development CEO Art Zargaryan said, ““Moorefield’s decades of experience delivering complex hospitality and destination entertainment projects, as well as regional sports projects give us confidence in their ability to execute at this scale.

“With ground-breaking behind us, the focus now turns to execution and that’s exactly why we chose Lund Construction.

“Their decades of experience building infrastructure throughout the region and their firsthand knowledge of this site, make the team at Lund Construction a strong pick to help us accelerate our plans for a transformative neighborhood and stadium project.”

Executive Vice President Larry Moorefield of Moorefield Construction said, “We have spent nearly 70 years earning the trust of the communities and clients we build for, and this project is the most significant expression of that commitment yet.

“We are proud to stand alongside Sacramento Republic FC, Wilton Rancheria, and the entire project team in delivering something this region has never seen. Sacramento deserves this — and we will build it right.”

Kevin Lund, president of Lund Construction, said, “For more than 65 years, Lund Construction Co. has played a meaningful role in shaping the infrastructure of the Sacramento region.

“At the heart of our work is a simple belief: strong communities are built by dedicated people. That principle continues to guide everything we do.

“We are honored to contribute to the future home of Sacramento Republic FC and proud to partner with the Wilton Rancheria Tribe. It is a privilege to help build projects that will serve and strengthen this community for generations to come, and we remain committed to delivering that work with integrity, respect, and lasting pride.”

Lund Construction has successfully executed a range of projects demonstrating Lund’s capability to handle large-scale, high-stakes assignments efficiently.

Republic FC’s new downtown home will be the biggest pro sports and entertainment venue in the region and will serve as the anchor for a new neighborhood that will help double the size of Downtown.

Vertical construction on the site will begin later this year, with the stadium on track to open in 2028.

Later this year, the club will open its stadium preview center where fans who have placed a deposit will have the first opportunity to experience select amenities and premium features.
