The National Football League (NFL) team Denver Broncos have finalized the formal agreement to purchase land in Denver (US) for their new stadium.

‘msn’ stated that the team says the closing on the purchase of the Burnham Yard, a decommissioned railyard, is expected in the fall.

Brand-new NFL Stadium

In addition to a brand-new NFL stadium with a retractable roof at the 58-acre site just off of I-25 between the 6th and the 13th avenues the plan will include spaces for shops, restaurants, entertainment venues, housing and offices.

The Denver Broncos are a professional American football team based in Denver (US). The Broncos compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a Member of the American Football Conference (AFC) West Division.

The 76,125-seat Empower Field at Mile High is an American football stadium in the Western United States, located in Denver, Colorado. Opened 25 years ago in 2001 its primary tenant is the National Football League (NFL) team Denver Broncos.

The Burnham Yard is a historic 58-acre former railyard in Central Denver, Colorado (US). It served as a major rail repair and maintenance facility for over 150 years before closing in 2016. Today, it is the designated site for a new, privately-funded Denver Broncos stadium and mixed-use entertainment district.

Open Houses

‘msn’ further stated that while the agreement with the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT), the property owner, wasn’t formalized until recently the organization announced their plans last September and have been holding open houses in the community since then to show off their plan.

The Denver Broncos President Damani Leech also said in one of the open houses that they are also planning it to be “a multimodal transportation hub”.

The Denver Broncos spokesperson Patrick Smyth said in a statement that the team is “pleased to finalize a formal agreement with the CDOT”.

Added Smyth, “As this remains the preferred site we are optimistic that our collaboration with the city, the State and the community will keep everything on track for 2031.”

The Denver Broncos said they still have several steps to take in the process including reaching “agreements with the Denver Water and other public/private transactions”.
