Immersive destination developer Miral has announced plans to invest more than $3.3 billion in Abu Dhabi’s Yas Island over the next five years.

Travel Trade Journal said the cash injection will be used to support new developments as well as expansions and enhancements to existing attractions.

The move reinforces Miral’s commitment to Abu Dhabi’s Tourism Strategy 2030 and will further strengthen Yas Island’s position as a leading global destination for leisure and entertainment.

The investment will also grow the island’s hospitality offering, adding new hotel rooms and elevating its accommodation portfolio.

The investment will focus on expanding Yas Island’s theme parks and attractions, introducing new rides and immersive experiences, and growing its hospitality offering with additional hotel rooms and upgrades to its accommodation portfolio.

The programme is aligned with Abu Dhabi’s Tourism Strategy 2030 and is aimed at strengthening Yas Island’s position as an international leisure and entertainment destination.

H.E. Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of Miral, said, “This investment reflects our commitment to Abu Dhabi’s long-term vision and our ambition to continue shaping one of the world’s most dynamic tourism destinations.

“Yas Island has become a global success story, demonstrating how world-class experiences contribute to economic growth, enhance quality of life, and strengthen Abu Dhabi’s appeal to audiences from around the world.

“Over the next five years, this investment will build on that momentum, introducing new experiences and expanding our hospitality and leisure offering to meet our evolving visitor expectations.”

Miral clarified that the AED 12 billion investment is separate from the previously announced Disney project and forms part of the long-term development of Yas Island.

The planned projects will expand the island’s range of leisure, entertainment and hospitality experiences while responding to changing visitor expectations.

The investment is also expected to support job creation and skills development within Abu Dhabi’s tourism sector, contributing to the emirate’s broader economic diversification and sustainable growth objectives.

Through the five-year development programme, Miral aims to further evolve Yas Island’s existing attractions and hospitality infrastructure while introducing new experiences for residents and international visitors.
