The Monumental Sports & Entertainment (MSE) recently announced a planned evolution of its leadership structure designed to support the company’s continued growth and further strengthen alignment across its sports, media and venue businesses.

New Structure

‘MONUMENTAL’ stated that as part of the new structure Zach Leonsis has been named the President and the Vice-Chairman of MSE, a newly created position in which he will oversee the financial operations, infrastructure and technology, the venues and the media businesses.

Close Coordination

Zach Leonsis previously served as the President of Media & New Enterprises and will continue to work closely with the Monumental Sports & Entertainment Founder, Chairman, Managing Partner, and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Ted Leonsis.

Washington, D.C. (US)-based the Monumental Sports & Entertainment (MSE) is one of the leading integrated sports and entertainment companies globally. The MSE’s portfolio spans the premier professional sports teams, the world-class venues and the next-generation media properties with marquee assets including the National Hockey League (NHL) team Washington Capitals, the National Basketball Association (NBA) team Washington Wizards and the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) team Washington Mystics.

Long-term Strategic Vision

‘MONUMENTAL’ further stated that Ted Leonsis remains the Controlling Owner and serves on the Board of Governors for the NBA, the NHL and the WNBA. He is also the Chairman of the NBA Media Committee. In his role, he will continue leading the company and setting its long-term strategic vision and maintain sole decision-making authority for the teams.

Leadership Structure

Averred Ted Leonsis, “Monumental has grown significantly in both scale and complexity and our leadership structure must continue to evolve with the business. Zach Leonsis has played an integral role in building Monumental into the platform it is today and this expanded role reflects both his leadership and the increasing integration of our businesses. I have tremendous confidence in Zach and our entire leadership team as we continue to execute against our long-term vision.”

Shared Priorities

As the President and the Vice-Chairman Zach Leonsis will have expanded responsibility for driving coordination and execution across the enterprise with a focus on ensuring the MSE’s businesses operate with shared priorities and continue to deliver for the fans, the partners and the communities the company serves. Zach will remain the Alternate Governor for the Washington Wizards on the NBA Board of Governors and for the Washington Mystics on the WNBA Board of Governors while continuing his service on the Media Committees of the WNBA and the NBA G League (the official minor league of the NBA).

Monumental Momentum

Added Zach Leonsis, “This is an incredibly important moment for Monumental and I’m excited about the opportunity to help lead the company through its next phase of growth. We have exceptional leaders and teams across the organization and will continue to focus on raising the bar for how we serve our fans and the entire District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia (DMV) community. I’m grateful for the senior leadership team’s trust and look forward to working alongside them as we build on the momentum across Monumental.”

Smooth Transition

As part of the transition, Grant Hastings, who has held the position of MSE’s Senior Vice-President of New Enterprises, will assume the role of the Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Steve Miller, who joined MSE in September 2025 and has served as the Chief Financial Officer for the past year is leaving the company for personal reasons. Miller will continue to support the company in an advisory capacity through the end of 2026 to help ensure a smooth transition.

‘Tremendous Momentum’

Stated Hastings, “I’m grateful for the opportunity to take on this role at such an important moment for Monumental. We have tremendous momentum across the organization and a strong foundation for continued growth. I look forward to working with Ted, Zach and our leadership team to build on that foundation and maintain the financial discipline and strong corporate practices we have established across the organization.”

Digital-Physical Experiences

Additionally, Jordan Silberman, President of Venues, will take on additional responsibilities within the company and will report to Zach Leonsis. Jordan’s role will expand to oversee the MSE infrastructure, inclusive of venues and technology. The MSE’s Chief Technology Officer, Charlie Myers, and the technology team will report into Jordan. These changes will enable the MSE to more effectively integrate the digital and physical experiences that MSE deliver to its fans.

Depth of Talent

Overall, these leadership changes reflect the strength of MSE’s long-term succession planning and the depth of talent across the organization thus positioning the company for continued growth.
