5th Coliseum Summit MENA speakers

Al Ain will play host to the 5th Coliseum Summit MENA on November 4-5, 2015. Coliseum Summit is a global sports venues business conference sharing knowledge about designing, constructing, delivering and operating stadiums and arenas.

The conference is being hosted in the premise of Al Ain’s award-winning Hazza Bin Zayed Stadium.

Coliseum is a global series of sports venues business summits organised by MJR Group Ltd. Coliseum conferences are held in four key regions in the world, namely: Europe, the Americas, Asia and the Middle East. These summits have transformed into a forum that offers interconnectivity to all the regions of the world. In the process, it has successfully created unique platforms from where knowledge is shared between local, regional and international experts who design, construct, operate and manage venues.

This year’s event is poised to draw participation from over 150 delegates from across the world. This would include experts from the stadium design and building industry, architects, engineers, stadium and venues operations professionals and representatives from the stadium business sector.

The international sports venues and stadium conference this year will see presentations from more than 30 expert speakers from around GCC and Europe. This will include top representatives from regional sports bodies and international firms such as Abu Dhabi Sports Council, Dubai Sports City, Supreme Committee of Delivery & Legacy, HOK, Hamdan Sports Complex, Zayed Sports City, Yas Marina Circuit, IPIC Arena, Miral, Deloitte, CH2M, Repucom and many more.

The last four editions of Coliseum Summit MENA were held in Doha, Qatar, primarily with a focus on 2022 FIFA World Cup and associated projects.

Announcing the change in venue for the summit, Michael Rennschmied said: “After successfully hosting Coliseum Summit MENA in Doha for the last four years, we have decided to bring the event to UAE this year. UAE is emerging as a great destination for sports venue sector with several sporting events lined up in the next few years. It will host the AFC Asian Cup 2019 and tenders for new stadiums are already out. Also, UAE’s strategic location makes it accessible for all the GCC states.”

This year’s Coliseum Summit MENA will put the focus straight on the new stadium projects coming up in the UAE, primarily for the AFC Asian Cup 2019 including, including the proposed 60,000-seater in Dubai and the other stadiums in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Dubai. Participants will also get a unique ‘behind the scene’ experience through the tour of the Hazza Bin Zayed Stadium in Al Ain.

Coliseum Summit is the only international conference that offers case studies about sports stadium projects’ best practices, challenges and solutions within the MENA region. The business, security and technology aspects of sports venues will be thoroughly covered with an exchange of ideas between experts from the region and their counterparts in the Europe.

In addition to its usual focus on sports venues, the summit will also pay adequate attention to business opportunities for sports venues in the GCC region. Sessions will include discussions on family amusement parks in the GCC. Sports venues in the GCC region usually face a high risk of incurring financial losses. Hence, the sessions will cover topics with an aim to address this crucial issue.

“The inclusion of theme parks in the session is bound to add value with a focus on the best practices and experiences for destination creation, some of which will hopefully reflect positively on the sports venues sector,” Rennschmied said.

With an impressive line-up of speakers and participants, the 5th Coliseum Summit MENA promises to offer a dynamic interface between local, regional and international experts who design, construct, operate and manage sports venues around the world. The participants represent all the different segments of the sports venue business including the various stakeholders such as the sports bodies, clubs, service providers, suppliers etc.

Coliseum Summit brings together all the stakeholders under one roof without splitting the delegates in different rooms for categorised sessions. The idea is to offer a ‘looking-over-the-edge-of-the-plate’ view to all the participants as Coliseum Summit believes that it is important to learn from the associate industry and business segments that feed the global sports venue sector.

The event will be hosted in cooperation with Deloitte Sports Group, the Abu Dhabi Sports Council and Al Ain Club Investment Company. The main sponsors are Hill International, Monster Jam, Tekla, bam, Musco Lighting and Covestro.
