The San Francisco 49ers have appointed Al Guido as Chief Executive Officer following 10 years as the team’s President.

The San Francisco 49ers said that during Guido’s 12-year tenure with the 49ers, including service as Chief Operating Officer and later President, the organization has experienced sustained growth and transformation across its business operations.

Under his leadership, the 49ers have emerged as one of the NFL’s leading franchises off the field, recognized for its focus on fan experience and engagement, brand strength, revenue growth, and operational discipline.

During this period, the 49ers Faithful has expanded significantly, positioning the team among the largest and most globally recognized fan bases in professional sports, with strong and growing followings in their NFL global markets, which include Mexico, the United Kingdom, and the UAE.

The San Francisco 49ers are a professional American football team based in the San Francisco Bay Area (US). The 49ers compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member of the league’s National Football Conference West division.

The 49ers further stated that in parallel with his work with the 49ers, Guido has helped establish Levi’s Stadium as a premier global sports and entertainment destination.

Since opening, the stadium has hosted many of the world’s most iconic artists and major sporting events, while generating more than $2 billion in economic impact for the region.

In 2026, with the arrival of Super Bowl LX and the FIFA World Cup, Levi’s Stadium will become the only venue in history to host both events in the same calendar year.

The 68,500 capacity Levi’s Stadium is an American football stadium located in Santa Clara, California, United States, just west of the much larger city of San Jose, in the San Francisco Bay Area. It has served as the home venue for the National Football League (NFL)’s San Francisco 49ers since 2014.

Going forward, Jed York will continue in his role as Principal Owner, remaining engaged in the leadership of the organization.

Football operations will continue to be led jointly by John Lynch and Kyle Shanahan, with both – along with Chief Executive Officer Al Guido – reporting directly to York.

York said, “Al has been an exceptional leader for this organization for more than a decade. His vision, partnership, and steady leadership have positioned the 49ers for success today and well into the future. The evolution of his role reflects how essential he has been to this organization and our confidence about what’s ahead.”

Under Guido’s leadership, the 49ers have earned widespread recognition for their impact in the community and their commitment to their people.

The organization has been repeatedly named one of the Bay Area’s Best Places to Work, honored by ESPN as the 2017 Sports Humanitarian Team of the Year, recognized by Beyond Sport as Sport Team of the Year for community impact, and included on Front Office Sports’ inaugural list of the Most Impactful brands in 2024.

Guido said, “This has always been a team effort. I am grateful for the trust Jed and the York family have shown in me, and proud of the staff I get to work alongside every day. The focus remains on winning — on the field and across the organization — and that standard will continue to guide our work.”

Guido concurrently serves as Chairman and CEO of Elevate, a full-service consulting firm supporting high-performing organizations in sports and beyond.

Prior to joining the 49ers, he held senior leadership roles with Legends and the Dallas Cowboys, where he was part of the leadership team overseeing the opening of AT&T Stadium.

He also held positions with the NHL’s Phoenix Coyotes and Philadelphia Flyers, as well as the NBA’s Philadelphia 76ers, and began his career in sports and entertainment with Comcast-Spectacor.
