Artemio Franchi Stadium rejig work kickstart

The redevelopment plans for the Pier Luigi Nervi (Italian engineer and architect)-designed Artemio Franchi Stadium in Florence, Italy, has been greenlighted and tenders for the same has been floated.

‘City of Florence’ stated that the deadline for submitting tender applications is December 11^th.

The 43,147-capacity Artemio Franchi Stadium is a football stadium in Florence, Italy. It is currently the home of ACF Fiorentina. The old nickname of the stadium was ‘Comunale’.

The Serie A club ACF Fiorentina, commonly referred to as Fiorentina, is an Italian professional football club based in Florence, Tuscany, Italy. The original team was founded by a merger in August 1926, while the current club was refounded in August 2002 following bankruptcy.

‘City of Florence’ further stated that the tender will be awarded to the entity which quotes the lowest price. Out of an overall score of 100, the price will be worth 10 points, the time 10 points and the technical offer 80 points.

The benchmark has been set high for participating in the tender exercise and for many processing categories it will be necessary to possess the classification connected to the maximum amounts (for example, the OG1 Class 8 Category which is equivalent to civil and industrial buildings with classification for amounts exceeding 15 million euros), as well as a turnover exceeding 180 million euros in five years.

A commission will be set up which will assign scores on the technical offer and complete its work in such a manner so as to allow administrative checks and the tender will have to be awarded by December 31^st.

Work on the above facility rejig will have to start by March 2024 but the Municipal authorities want work to start earlier.

The initial demolition works will start in January 2024 and the redecoration price tag has been pegged at 151,308,000 euros. The redevelopment work envisages restoration, repair and keeping intact the pristine sheen of the existing structures like the main building, the ‘Tower of Marathon’ and the helical staircases of the venue. Four mega columns will be set up to support the roof, new spaces will be created for the athletes, a media zone too will be created, and washrooms will be built.

The company which wins the tender can start work on the repurposing of the Artemio Franchi Stadium pronto with no further tenders to be floated.
