ASM renews Huntington Convention Center Cleveland Image: ASM Global

As it prepares to begin its second decade as one of the Midwest’s premier event spaces, the Huntington Convention Center of Cleveland in Ohio, US, has renewed its management pact for five years with the world’s leading venue management company ASM Global who began overseeing the venue shortly after its unveiling.

‘ASM Global’ stated that the Convention Center has welcomed over two million attendees and hosted the Republican National Convention, an National Football League (NFL) Draft (player recruitment) and both the Major League Baseball (MLB) and National Basketball Association (NBA) All-Star games, bringing visitors from across the United States and abroad.

Said Ron King, ASM Global’s General Manager, “Our plan is to bring in even more events, increase the room nights that visitors spend here, grow net revenue and, in the coming years, exceed the $100 million annual economic impact we’ve had in the region.”

The 10,000-capacity Huntington Convention Center of Cleveland is a convention center located in downtown Cleveland, Ohio, in the United States. Built by the Cuyahoga County, Ohio, beneath the Cleveland Mall, it opened on June 7th, 2013. The older Cleveland Convention Center, built in 1964, was demolished to make way for the new structure.

Managed by ASM Global, the Huntington Convention Center of Cleveland currently provides over 475,000 square feet of prime meeting and event space, including 225,000 square feet of exhibit hall space and two ballrooms as well as over 50 breakout rooms. The center is connected to the 600-room Hilton Cleveland Downtown and Cleveland Public Auditorium which features a 10,000-seat stadium-style auditorium.

The Republican National Convention is a series of Presidential nominating conventions held every four years since 1856 by the Republican Party in the United States. The Major League Baseball All-Star Game, also known as the ‘Midsummer Classic’, is an annual professional baseball game sanctioned by Major League Baseball and contested between the All-Stars from the American League and National League.

New York (US)-based the National Basketball Association (NBA) is a professional basketball league in North America composed of 30 teams (29 in the United States and 1 in Canada). It is one of the major professional sports leagues in the United States and Canada and is considered the premier professional basketball league in the world.

The National Basketball Association All-Star Game is a basketball exhibition game hosted every February by the National Basketball Association and showcases 24 of the league’s star players. It is the featured event of the NBA All-Star Weekend, a three-day event which goes from Friday to Sunday.

‘ASM Global’ further stated that the ASM Global’s plans include the creation of a spectacular Sky Lounge that features a one-of-a-kind view of the renowned Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Lake Erie. This exclusive space will be utilized to bring a new era of experience to the convention centers.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, sometimes simply referred to as the Rock Hall, is a museum and Hall of Fame located in downtown Cleveland, Ohio, United States, on the shore of Lake Erie.

The Cuyahoga County Convention Facilities Development Corporation (CCCFDC) is a nonprofit formed by the Cuyahoga County Council for the purpose of promoting the revitalization of Greater Cleveland/Cuyahoga County and enhancing the economic growth and employment opportunities in the area on behalf of the County. The CCCFDC oversees the operation and management of the Huntington Convention Center of Cleveland.

Part of ASM Global’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) platform, ASM Global Acts, the 475,000-square-foot, Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold-certified Convention Center is a showcase for sustainability. It is designed to take advantage of the Earth’s geothermal and insulating properties which helps naturally reduce heat loss and maintain steady temperatures. The Center also features a four-acre green rooftop, often used as an outdoor event space overlooking Lake Erie and harvests organic produce – eggs and honey from its onsite farm. Food scraps are converted with the Grind2Energy system into energy to power homes.
