Aston Villa W.F.C. big step move to Villa Park

The Aston Villa Women Football Club has announced that the Villa Park in Birmingham, England (UK) will become the team’s main stadium for the 2024-2025 seasons (starting from September 21^st, 2024, and ending on May 11^th, 2025).

‘avfc.co.uk’ quoted the team as stating, “We will play all 11 of our home Barclays Women’s Super League (WSL) fixtures in B6 (the Lower North stand at Villa Park), a significant increase compared to the five played there during the last campaign.”

The Aston Villa Women Football Club is the women’s football team of Aston Villa currently playing in the Women’s Super League, the highest league of women’s football in England. The club has been in existence since 1973.

The Women’s Super League (WSL), known as the Barclays Women’s Super League (BWSL) for sponsorship reasons, is the highest league of women’s football in England (UK). It was established in 2010.

The 42,640-capacity Villa Park is a football stadium in Aston, Birmingham (UK). It is the home of the Premier League club Aston Villa F.C. since 1897. It also serves as the Aston Villa W.F.C. home ground for their league matches but from the 2024-2025 seasons it will become their main stadium.

The 11,300-capacity Bescot Stadium, also known as the Poundland Bescot Stadium for sponsorship purposes, is a football stadium in Walsall, England (UK) and serves as the home pitch of the Aston Villa Women Football Club for their Cup matches.

‘avfc.co.uk’ further stated that the remaining home fixtures, including the Adobe Women’s FA Cup (the top annual Cup tournament for the women’s clubs in English football) and the FA Women’s Continental Tyres League Cup (league Cup competition in English women’s association football ties), will be played at the Poundland Bescot Stadium.

London (UK)-based the Football Association or The FA is the governing body of association football in England and the Crown Dependencies of Jersey, Guernsey and the Isle of Man.

The Villa A.F.C. made the move to Walsall in 2020 following the club’s promotion from the Barclays Women’s Championship (the second tier of women’s football in England).

Our relationship with the Walsall Football Club continues as the Poundland Bescot Stadium will be our secondary venue.”

The Walsall Football Club is a professional association football club based in the town of Walsall, West Midlands, England (UK). The team competes in EFL League Two, the fourth level of the English football league system and the Poundland Bescot Stadium serves as their home ground.
