The LaLiga team Atlético Madrid (Spain) have confirmed a historic stadium naming rights deal with Riyadh Air.

‘yahoo!sports’ stated that Riyadh Air are already the main shirt sponsors of the ‘Los Rojiblancos’ and a del has now been brokered to extend their partnership.

The Atlético Madrid, or simply Atlético, is a Spanish professional football club based in Madrid (Spain) that plays in LaLiga (the top professional men’s football league in Spain). The club play their home games at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano which has a capacity to accommodate 70,460 spectators.

The 70,460-capacity Estadio Metropolitano, also referred to as the Estadio Riyadh Air Metropolitano for sponsorship reasons, is a stadium in Madrid, Spain. It has been the home stadium of the Atlético Madrid since the 2017-2018 seasons.

Launched on March 12th, 2023, Riyadh Air is a new world-class airline with a vision to redefine air travel. Its mission is to set a new standard in flying by delivering an exceptional guest experience with authentic Saudi Arabian hospitality powered by digitality all while placing sustainability at the heart of their operations. As a carrier rooted in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia), Riyadh Air ambition soars to cover over 100 destinations by 2030.

‘yahoo!sports’ further stated that the LaLiga giants have been in talks over a fresh sponsor for their home and the Estadio Metropolitano will become the Estadio Riyadh Air Metropolitano with immediate effect.

The above move brings a third stadium sponsor to the fore for the club following previous broken deals with Wanda and Cívitas (a Spanish real estate developer that focuses on innovative urban and real estate projects) at their 70,460-seater base in the Spanish capital.

The Wanda Group, or the Dalian Wanda Group, is a Chinese multinational conglomerate founded in Dalian, Liaoning and headquartered in Beijing (China).

The agreement with Riyadh Air runs until 2033 and will provide a major financial investment alongside their ongoing bond.

With the international break ongoing the new name will be given a formal unveiling on Atlético Madrid’s return to action later this month.

The next game comes via a Madrid derby at home to their peer team CD Leganés on October 20th with updates on how the occasion will be marked expected in due course.
