Infrastructure construction work for the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics will be completed this October with the rehabilitation of China’s National Stadium. This was confirmed by Beijing Major Projects construction headquarters recently.

‘Beijing 2022’ stated that the National Stadium, also dubbed the ‘Bird’s Nest’, will become the only venue in history to host the opening and closing ceremonies for both Olympic Summer and Winter Games, having previously done so in 2008 when Beijing hosted the Summer Games.

The 2022 Winter Olympics, officially known as the XXIV Olympic Winter Games and commonly known as Beijing 2022, is an international winter multisport event that is scheduled to take place from February 4th to February 20th, 2022 in Beijing and towns in the neighboring Hebei province, China.

The Beijing National Stadium, officially the National Stadium, also known as the Bird’s Nest, is a 91,000-capacity stadium in Beijing (China).

‘Beijing 2022’ further stated that as of July 17th, 2021, 53 of 57 Olympic Winter projects in both Beijing and Yanqing competition zones have been completed. The remaining four projects, including the national stadium’s construction and renovation, will be completed this year.

Earlier this year, the Beijing Olympic Winter Village and the Main Media Center (MMC) were delivered to the Beijing 2022 Organizing Committee (BOCOG), as were the National Sliding Center, National Alpine Skiing Center and Yanqing Olympic Winter Village.

The Beijing Organising Committee for the 2022 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games is a public institution with legal person status responsible for the organization and coordination of all the preparations and delivery of the 2022 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.
