The Brisbane 2032 Organising Committee (Brisbane 2032) (Australia) has announced the appointment of Global Commercial and Marketing Executive Francois-Xavier Bonnaillie as the Chief Commercial Officer.

Bonnaillie will relocate to Australia following the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games with his role as Brisbane 2032 Chief Commercial Officer commencing in November this year. Confirmation of Brisbane 2032’s Chief Commercial Officer follows a highly sought after and extensive Australian and international recruitment search.

‘Brisbane 2032’ stated that the above announcement was made in Paris (France) recently with Bonnaillie joining Brisbane 2032 head honcho Cindy Hook and President Andrew Liveris to mark the occasion.

The Brisbane Organising Committee for the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games (BNEOCOG) was established by the Brisbane Olympic and Paralympic Games Arrangements Act 2021 passed by the Queensland Parliament in December 2021. It is a statutory authority and its role is “to plan, organize and deliver the Olympic and Paralympic Games in accordance with the host contract”.

The 2032 Summer Olympics, officially the Games of the XXXV Olympiad and also known as Brisbane 2032, is an upcoming international multisport event scheduled to take place from July 23rd-August 8th, 2032 in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia.

The 2024 Summer Olympics, officially the Games of the XXXIII Olympiad and branded as Paris 2024, is an international multisport event which got off to a start on July 24th and will conclude on August 11th, 2024. The Opening Ceremony took place on July 26th. Paris (France) is the Host City with events held in 16 additional Cities spread across Metropolitan France and one subsite in Tahiti, French Polynesia.

‘Brisbane 2032’ further stated that Bonnaillie has served as the Paris 2024 Organising Committee Senior Director of Partnership and Licensing for the last five years having previously held senior global commercial and marketing roles over three decades including close to 25 years with the multinational consumer goods corporation and Worldwide Olympic Partner, Proctor and Gamble.

Hook congratulated Bonnaillie on his appointment and looked forward to him joining the team – “Francois-Xavier brings an impressive and broad international commercial background to the role together with a unique understanding of the task ahead to raise significant sponsorship revenue for Brisbane 2032. I’m confident the success that Francois-Xavier and his team have delivered to the Paris 2024 Organising Committee will carry through to a new country, market and the Brisbane 2032 Games as we continue our commercial program preparations. I’m also pleased that we have attracted an executive with a proven track record of commercial success in business and within the Olympic and Paralympic movements. Francios-Xavier will be a great addition to my team.”

Brisbane 2032 President, Andrew Liveris, emphasized the importance of bringing Brisbane 2032’s Chief Commercial Officer on at this stage of the overall Games lifecycle.

Maintained Liveris, “Having been involved as a Worldwide Olympic Partner as the President and the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Dow, I know first-hand the timelines that Brisbane 2032 will need to engage with the corporate leaders to be successful. We have made a commitment to be self-funded and cost-neutral to the taxpayer. That means setting our commercial strategies in place now, including the recruitment of Francois-Xavier, so that we are well-advanced in our plans and discussions with the potential partners ahead of our official marketing period commencing in 2027.”

Bonnaillie said he was honored to have been selected for the role and to have the opportunity to be part of a second Olympic and Paralympic Games Organising Committee – “I have a fond connection with Brisbane having traveled to the City for business many times. Over the years, I have seen significant growth take shape across the region and that was one of the main attractions in accepting the role. To have a leadership position in supporting the acceleration and commercial capacity for Brisbane 2032 is a rare and privileged opportunity and I’m looking forward to getting started.”
