Coliseum Online Week MENA 2021 press release Image: Etihad Arena

The strong point of Coliseum is its conferences. It provides a platform to the sports venue sector savants to learn about and discuss issues, ideas and work that focus on a topic of mutual concern – in this case being sports venues.

Coliseum will once again enrich the global online audience as it prepares to hold in the hybrid mode the Coliseum Online Week MENA 2021 from February 10th-11th, 2021 – the only remaining stadium and arena business conference in the MENA region.

This is the 9th Coliseum Summit MENA, and for the first time it is being held online as the COVID-19 situation continues to exacerbate.

In the MENA online conclave, regional and international experts will deliberate on the issues presently being confronted by the sports venue sector with particular reference to cancellation of major sports events due to the pandemic as a result of which there is almost nil gate-related earnings.

A major topic to be discussed is the Etihad Arena which opened its gates in Abu Dhabi recently. Brint Jackson, General Manager, Etihad Arena, UAE, will discuss how the 18,000-capacity Etihad Arena will shine on Abu Dhabi’s horizon and help bring world-class content to the capital of UAE.

Few of the sports venue luminaries who would enlighten the online audience with their addresses are – Darren Burden, Executive Director, Kai Tak Sports Park, Hong Kong, Mohamed Serageldin, Board Member, Al Ahly SC, Egypt, Ingo Klein, BD MENA, Pfeifer, Germany, as well as Jassen Mihaylov, Head of Sales & Marketing, also of Pfeifer, Germany, Waleed Bukhatir, Vice-Chairman, Sharjah Cricket Stadium, UAE, Thomas Albinger, CEO, Companeer GmbH, Germany, Guy Ngata, CEO, Coca-Cola Arena, UAE, and Mohammed Hamdi, CEO, ADO Den Haag, Netherlands.

There will be other top-notch sports venue professionals who will grace the online assembly and share their thoughts and knowhow.

Some of the topics to be discussed are – Venue DESTINATION, Venue DESIGN, Venue BUSINESS, Venue TECHNOLOGY, Venue EDUCATION & GREEN Venue, Venue OPERATIONS, and Venue SECURITY, HEALTH & SAFETY.

The topic – Venue SECURITY, HEALTH & SAFETY assumes significance keeping in mind the fact that COVID-19 has thrown up the biggest challenge to the sports venue sector.

However, the primary objective of the ‘Coliseum Summits’ remain the same – to provide a platform to the sports venue sector virtuosos to discuss among themselves the challenges they are facing and what are the lessons learned.

With the vaccination programs being rolled out in several countries around the globe, ‘Coliseum’ hopes to be back with the physical version of the MENA Conference in 2022.
