‘Coliseum’s long suit is its international conferences held every year. It provides the perfect platform to venue virtuosos the world over to do a step-by-step examination of the various issues being faced by the sports venue sector – and herein lies the flavor of ‘Coliseum’ summits.

Though a year has passed by, nevertheless, in several parts of the globe COVID-19 and its virus variant is continuing with the destructive streak despite the vaccine rollout leading to huge death figures the world over. Taking into consideration the grim health situation, ‘Coliseum’ is being forced to hold its maiden LATAM Conference as a virtual (Coliseum Online Week LATAM 2021) from June 14th-18th.

The registration for complimentary delegate passes is now open (for registered and approved applicants). Please click on this link to register.

The calamitous fallout of the pandemic will be one of the topics to be discussed in the online session due to which one of the conference segments has been adjusted to HEALTH, SAFETY & SECURITY. A new segment is being introduced in this hybrid summit – HOST CITY Venues.

Latin America boasts most ardent soccer supporters globally and a lot will be happening in the region – the high-octane soccer showpiece FIFA World Cup 2026™ wherein Canada, Mexico and the United States will come together to co-host the event extraordinaire and make history. Moreover, the multisport event – Pan American Games – will be held at Santiago De Chile in 2023.

The concerning part is that though soccer is like religion in Latin America, but nearly all the stadia in the region have either worn out or are not in conformity with the futuristic venues which many countries in the world boast today. After all, avant-garde arenas have become a kind of hallmark for countries to be able to host big-ticket sporting events.

(Monumental) stadia like the 70,074-capacity El Monumental River Plate in Buenos Aires, Argentina or the 60,235-capacity Estadio Centenario in Montevideo, Uruguay are in danger of not matching up to the spiffy venues the world over.

A sad commentary on the state of affairs which is being ascribed to the tight pecuniary situation in Latin America – a reason why facilities are not being upgraded to stay in tune with the modern stadia of today.

Looking at the above scenario, ‘Coliseum’ thought it wise to move into LATAM and hold an online assembly wherein venue aces would provide pearls of wisdom on how to bring about a 360 degree transformation to the stadium infrastructure in the region.

‘Coliseum’ will bring together new projects and experts from Mexico, Argentina, Uruguay, Chile, Colombia, Brazil, Paraguay and other countries in the brainstorming online session. Around 20 new stadium and arena projects will be introduced in the virtual meet.

However, the primary objective of the ‘Coliseum Summits’ remain the same – to provide a platform to the sports venue sector cognoscenti to discuss among themselves the challenges they are facing and what are the lessons learned.

‘Coliseum’ is keeping its fingers crossed that with the vaccine rollout eventually COVID-19 will be tamed and the 2022 LATAM conference edition can be held in the in-person mode.
