Manchester Co-op live arena new images Image: Co-op live

New imagery has been released of Co-op Live, a new 23,500-seat arena under construction in the English City of Manchester (UK).

The ‘Co-op Live’ stated that the images offer a first look at the interior of the arena, which will be the largest indoor venue in the United Kingdom when it opens its doors in 2023. A promotional video released by Co-op Live recently includes views of the arena’s stage, bars, restaurants, and food markets.

The Oak View Group (OVG) and the Co-op are joining forces to develop the UK’s biggest and most exciting new arena in Manchester – with the project injecting £350m of private investment into the local area. Co-op Live will be one of the world’s premier music and entertainment venues rivaling New York’s 20,789-capacity Madison Square Garden, the 17,505-capacity The Forum in Los Angeles (US) and the 20,000-capacity The O2 in London (UK). The 23,500-seat entertainment arena price tag is £365,000,000 and is scheduled to be completed in 2023.

Last month, the strategic management consulting firm CAA Icon was appointed by Oak View Group to serve as the project management consultancy for the arena.

Construction work on the arena began earlier in May, with BAM Construction revealing at the time that almost £150m (€174m/$205m) of the orders for the project had been placed with local firms.

Smart ‘n’ spiffy

Whilst a 23,500 capacity will make Co-op Live the largest live music venue in the United Kingdom, the smart ‘bowl’ design, low ceiling and large standing space will also make it the most intimate, atmospheric and electric.

The ultimate stage

With cutting-edge visual technology, exceptional acoustics and innovative sound bowl design, Co-op Live is big enough to attract the greatest acts on earth but intimate enough to make sure everyone gets to experience them at their very best.

Big-ticket events

A video has been released to coincide with the launch of Co-op Live’s new website, which gives the inside information on the multiuse arena. The venue will sit next to Premier League team Manchester City’s residence – the 55,097-capacity Etihad Stadium, and is set to host a range of high-profile musical acts as well as various sports and entertainment events.

The ‘Co-op Live’ further stated that the promotional video includes a poem by Manchester-based musical artiste Argh Kid, which tells of how “a City instrumental to music throughout the age can now give the world its greatest stage”.

The video also features an appearance from pop star Harry Styles, who last year invested in Co-op Live and will work alongside developer Oak View Group to pull in crowd by the horde to the arena and will also work on areas like offering fans premium facilities, best of hospitality offerings and artiste spaces at the arena.

Multiaward winning and multimillion selling global artiste and musician Harry Styles and the former One Direction singer who has picked up stake in the project, stated, “I am incredibly proud to be partnering with OVG on their plans for Co-op Live. Manchester is an incredible City filled with incredible people and I couldn’t be happier being involved in this project. It very much feels like coming home.”
