Stadium of the Future in Jacksonville update October 2025 Image: Jacksonville Jaguars

The NFL’s Jacksonville Jaguars have showed off progress on their Stadium of the Future renovation of EverBank Stadium with the opening of Grand Staircase One.

The Jaguars said that located in the southwest corner of the stadium, Grand Staircase One is the first of four monumental staircases that will exist on the corners of the stadium, directing ticket holders to the main concourse.

This new structure is a symbol of the Jaguars’ long-term vision, giving the fans a first glimpse of what 2028 will feel like in 2025.

The Jacksonville Jaguars are a professional American football team based in Jacksonville, Florida (US). The Jaguars compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member of the American Football Conference South Division. The team plays its home games at the EverBank Stadium.

The 67,838-capacity EverBank Stadium is an American football stadium in Jacksonville, Florida, United States. It is the home facility of the Jacksonville Jaguars of the National Football League (NFL).

The proposed 63,000-seat, open-air Stadium of the Future includes a translucent covering that’s the equivalent of wearing shades in the sun.

The Jaguars said that with the unveiling of the staircase comes some new wayfinding entry points they want to ensure all fans entering EverBank Stadium are aware of.

Gates 1 and 4 are now both considered “super” gates. This means they provide direct access to the Fan Entertainment Zone which is located in the Flex Field.

This fan area is the place to be ahead of kickoff. Each grand staircase will be flanked by escalators in the future as an additional option for transport between the plaza and the main concourse.

The Jags said construction of Grand Staircase One was no small task. Over 850 cubic yards of concrete were used and more than 1,100 linear feet of handrail were installed.

The top landing alone required 96 cement trucks to complete. Guests should also take note that the landing represents the increased width of the new concourses, which will provide safer movement of patrons.

This opening marks the Jaguars’ “first step into the Future,” and sets the stage for even more enhancements to come as the Stadium of the Future takes shape.

The deal for the stadium renovation project will keep the Jaguars in Jacksonville for another 30 years and came with a non-relocation agreement.

Major construction will begin after the 2025 season, with the Jaguars playing in front of a reduced capacity in 2026, per the City. The team’s home games would then take place away from Jacksonville the following season while the stadium is being renovated.

The Jaguars say that their plans “call for a reimagined stadium with an environmentally-friendly and cost-effective structure that showcases state-of-the-art innovation.”

Among these innovations is a transparent protective canopy that provide sun, wind and rain protection and reduce heat retention by 70 percent, as well as a 360-degree concourse, “immersive” in-bowl digital and lighting technology and a subtropical nature park open year-round to the visitors.
