FIFA invites providers of infrastructure Image: Coliseum GSVA

The FIFA World Cup 2026™ – the first edition of football’s greatest showpiece to take place across three countries – United States, Mexico and Canada – and the first to feature 48 teams and 16 Host Cities – will require significant overlay planning, venue design and temporary infrastructure procurement services in order to meet the requirements of hosting the event.

‘FIFA’ stated that in preparation for that, FIFA is seeking expressions of interest, with a view to launching a formal request for proposal (RFP) process, from interested parties that outline their ability to provide overlay planning, venue design and temporary infrastructure services and resources while demonstrating a financially viable and sustainable business solution for an event taking place across Canada, Mexico and the United States.

Zürich (Switzerland)-based the Fédération internationale de football association (FIFA) is the international governing body of association football, beach soccer and futsal. It was founded in 1904 to oversee international competition among the national associations of Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, and Switzerland.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup™ will be the 23rd FIFA World Cup™, the quadrennial international men’s soccer championship contested by the national teams of the member-associations of FIFA. The tournament will take place from June 11th to July 19th, 2026, and will be jointly hosted by 16 Cities in three North American countries: Canada, Mexico and the United States. The tournament will be the first hosted by three nations. Argentina is the defending champions.

A request for proposal (RFP) is a document that solicits a proposal, often made through a bidding process, by an agency or company interested in procurement of a commodity, service or valuable asset, to potential suppliers to submit business proposals. Given the expected high volume of responses, expressing interest in participating in the RFP will not automatically translate to an invitation to participate, as FIFA will conduct pre-assessment of the interested bidders before deciding on a shortlist of parties, who will be invited to participate in the RFP Process.

‘FIFA’ further stated that interested parties should register their interest by emailing FIFA at inf@fifa.org.
