The home of Georgia Tech football has been renamed Bobby Dodd Stadium at Hyundai Field in Atlanta, Georgia (US) following a naming rights agreement between the school and the automaker.

‘AP’ stated that the Georgia Board of Regents announced a deal recently for Hyundai to pay Georgia Tech approximately $55 million over 20 years for naming rights to the field.

The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets football program represents the Georgia Institute of Technology in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I Collegiate Competitors in the sport of American football.

The 55,000-capacity Bobby Dodd Stadium at Hyundai Field is the football stadium located at the corner of North Avenue at Techwood Drive on the campus of the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta (US).

The Georgia Institute of Technology is a public research university and institute of technology in Atlanta, Georgia (US). Established in 1885, it is part of the University System of Georgia.

Indiana (US)-based the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) is a nonprofit organization that regulates student-athletics among about 1,100 schools in the United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico. It also organizes the athletic programs of colleges and helps over 500,000 college student-athletes who compete annually in college sports.

The Hyundai Motor Company, often abbreviated to Hyundai Motors and commonly known as Hyundai, is a South Korean multinational automotive manufacturer headquartered in Seoul, South Korea, and founded in 1967.

‘AP’ further stated that the stadium known as Grant Field when it opened in 1913 was renamed the Bobby Dodd Stadium in 1988 in honor of the former Georgia Tech Coach and Athletic Director. The school plans to maintain recognition of its history as Grant Field with a display at the stadium.

In announcing the above agreement, Georgia Tech said the sponsorship elements will “feature enhancements to boost the experience on gamedays for fans in and around the home of Georgia Tech football”.

Georgia Tech President Ángel Cabrera said in a statement released by the school, “Like Georgia Tech, Hyundai is a global brand that is synonymous with quality, innovation and a commitment to advancing technology to make a positive difference in the world. The more we have gotten to know each other, the more obvious the alignment of our values has become.”

Hyundai, headquartered in Seoul (South Korea), is spending $5.54 billion to build an electric vehicle and battery plant in Bryan County, Georgia. The facility is expected to create more than 8,100 jobs.
