Guangzhou City Sports Complex

Guangzhou is planning to build a City Sports Service Complex to serve as a new landmark for the Chinese port city. The move is a part of Guangzhou Municipal Government’s latest blueprint to boost sports and related industry.

According to the Guideline for Developing the Sports Industry to Promote Sports Consumption, passed by the local government on November 28th, Guangzhou will establish 15 municipal and 66 district-level Sports Industry Functional Zones in addition to the City Sports Service Complex.

It is predicted that the total volume of the Guangzhou sports industry will reach RMB 250bn ($36.43bn) in 2025 and will account for five per cent of Guangzhou’s GDP. In recent years, Guangzhou has developed rapidly in its sports industry modernization and has formed several competitive sports industry main bodies. The sports industry has also become an important part of Guangzhou’s modern service industry.

Details of this exponential growth opportunity in sports sector and particularly with reference to opportunities in the stadium and arena business in Guangzhou will be discussed at length at the next Coliseum Summit ASIA in the Chinese capital Beijing in September 2017.
