Planning application has been submitted for the enhancement of Elland Road Stadium Image: KSS Design

The KSS Design Group announced that the Premier League team – the Leeds United F.C. – has submitted a planning application to the Leeds City Council for the enhancement of their home field – the Elland Road Stadium in West Yorkshire, England (UK).

A ‘LinkedIn Post by KSS Design Group’ stated, “This marks an exciting milestone for the project and the club following the conclusion of thorough public consultations throughout April, May and June during which the supporters and the local community were invited to share feedback on the proposals. We look forward to progressing the design to the next stage.”

The results from the consultation questionnaire were overwhelmingly in favor with 98 percent of the respondents supporting the club’s overall proposals to enhance the Elland Road Stadium.

The Leeds United Football Club is a professional football club based in Leeds, West Yorkshire, England (UK). The club competes in the Premier League, the top tier of English football. The Elland Road Stadium serves as their home ground.

The 37,645-capacity Elland Road or the Elland Road Stadium is a football stadium in Beeston, Leeds, West Yorkshire, England (UK) which has been the home of the Leeds United F.C. since the club’s formation in 1919. The stadium is the 14th-largest football stadium in England.

Comments raised throughout the consultation period have been reflected within the planning application.

Further results showed that 97 percent of the respondents supported an increase in capacity, 98 percent of the respondents supported the design plans and 99 percent of the respondents supported the economic benefits being delivered locally.

The application includes a detailed plan for the West Stand along with an outline application for the North Stand.

This evolution and revitalization of the Elland Road Stadium will provide greatly improved general admission and hospitality facilities taking the overall estimated capacity to 53,000 thus helping the club meet the demand for tickets with 26,000 supporters currently on the season ticket waiting list.

A final decision on the application is now expected to be made within approximately 13 weeks.
