Jeddah Central landmark architectural projects

Engineer Ahmed Al-Sulaim, head honcho of the Jeddah Central Development Company (JCDC), signed four contracts for the construction of three landmark architectural projects in the Jeddah Central Destination. They are a sports stadium, opera house and oceanarium in addition to Phase One infrastructure and utilities work in downtown Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

‘Saudi Gazette’ stated that the contract signing ceremony was held recently at the site of the Jeddah Central Destination, it was announced in a statement.

Jeddah (Saudi Arabia)-based the Jeddah Central Development Company (JCDC) is a real estate builder and construction company that is solely owned by the Public Investment Fund (PIF). It was established in 2019 to oversee the development and operations of the Jeddah Central Project.

Riyadh (Saudi Arabia)-based the Public Investment Fund (PIF) is the sovereign wealth fund of Saudi Arabia. It is among the largest sovereign wealth funds in the world with total estimated assets of US$776 billion. It was created in 1971 for the purpose of investing funds on behalf of the Government of Saudi Arabia.

The Jeddah Central is a development project in the center of Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The project was launched in 2021 by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to build an international destination and strengthen the City of Jeddah’s economy.

The Jeddah Central destination is slated to open its doors to visitors by the end of 2027, welcoming both domestic and international guests. This project is designed to be a multifaceted entertainment hub, and will also boast various facilities, including a sandy beach, a pier, a seafront promenade, and a marina.

‘Saudi Gazette’ further stated that the contract to implement the first phase of the infrastructure works in the Jeddah Central Destination was awarded to the China Harbor Engineering Arabia Company Limited (CHEC). It aims to put the City of Jeddah on the global map by reviving its ancient heritage and celebrating its contemporary culture.

Beijing (China)-based the China Harbour Engineering Arabia Company Limited (CHEC) is a construction contracting company that works on projects in Saudi Arabia and the Maldives. CHEC is a subsidiary of the China Communications Construction Company Limited (CCCC) (a multinational engineering and construction company that provides infrastructure services).

The contract to implement the sports stadium was awarded to the consortium of the Saudi branch of the China Railway Construction Corporation and the Sama Construction for Contracting. The stadium will be constructed with meeting international specifications, unique architecture, according to FIFA specifications, and cooling systems for the stands and stadium. It can accommodate 45,000 spectators to host regional and international events.

The China Railway Construction Corporation Limited is a listed construction enterprise based in Beijing, China, that was the second largest construction and engineering company in the world by revenue in 2014.

Riyadh (Saudi Arabia)-based the SAMA Construction for Trading and Contracting is a civil construction and electro-mechanical works company that was established in 1990.

The Jeddah Central Destination said in its statement that the contract for the construction of the oceanarium project was awarded to the Modern Building Leaders (MBL) company, as the ocean basins are a window into the details of marine life within the depths of the Red Sea. It provides a distinctive experience for its visitors that consolidate Jeddah’s position as a regional and global leader in preserving the marine environment.

Jeddah (Saudi Arabia)-based the Modern Building Leaders (MBL) is a Saudi Arabian company that provides end-to-end solutions for infrastructure, commercial construction, electro-mechanical engineering, and logistics.
