The Haslam Sports Group has announced the promotion of David Jenkins to President who has been with the National Football League (NFL) team Cleveland Browns and the Haslam Sports Group for 22 years previously serving as the Chief Operating Officer (COO).

‘msn’ stated that Jenkins played a key role in establishing the Haslam Sports Group in 2020 following the Haslam and Johnson families’ acquisition of investor-operator rights to the Major League Soccer team (MLS’s) Columbus Crew.

Berea (US)-based the Haslam Sports Group is a values-driven organization committed to unifying people through sports and entertainment. Founded on the vision of the Haslam and Johnson families our mission is to create world-class organizations that not only achieve sustainable success but also redefine the fan experience.

Dee and Jimmy Haslam, along with Whitney and JW Johnson, founded the Haslam Sports Group in 2020.

Stated Jenkins, “I’m honored and humbled to serve in the role of the President for the Haslam Sports Group. Dee, Jimmy, Whitney, and JW have been tremendous leaders who have invested in our employees and our community and I’m grateful for their trust and the opportunity they’ve afforded me to lead the HSG. We will continue to expand our efforts and prioritize our fans, our community and winning and I’m thrilled for what’s ahead for this organization in Northeast Ohio, Central Ohio, Milwaukee, and beyond.”

‘msn’ further stated that Jenkins was instrumental in managing the franchise’s expedited transition to keep the team in Columbus. Additionally, Jenkins helped secure a controlling interest for the family in the National Basketball Association’s (NBA’s) Milwaukee Bucks, approved by the NBA Board of Governors in 2023. This move gave the Haslam Sports Group ownership stakes in three of the five major North American professional sports leagues.

In his new role, Jenkins will lead HSG’s daily business operations and long-term strategic vision. His responsibilities include financial management, revenue generation, marketing, stadium operations, Government relations, and administration.

Added Dee and Jimmy Haslam, Managing and Principal Partners, “David has done a remarkable job steering and growing our business across the Haslam Sports Group. He has assembled an outstanding results-oriented executive team that pushes each other while also working extremely well together. We couldn’t think of anyone more deserving of this role as he has been a dedicated and loyal teammate and we are incredibly lucky to have him continue leading our organization.”

Jenkins currently leads the Browns’ future stadium planning aiming to develop a long-term solution for Northeast Ohio. This includes collaboration with the public officials on a public-private partnership (PPP) to build a new enclosed Huntington Bank Field in Brook Park (Ohio, US). The officials say the new stadium project is expected to deliver a world-class fan experience, attract large-scale events and drive economic growth in the region.

He also oversees the CrossCountry Mortgage Campus expansion in Berea, a mixed-use development adjacent to the Browns’ practice facility that broke ground in June 2025.

The CrossCountry Mortgage Campus expansion in Berea refers to a project aimed at significantly transforming the area, particularly the North side of Berea, through the expansion of the CrossCountry Mortgage Campus which also serves as the Cleveland Browns’ training and administrative complex. The project involves multiple partners and aims to expand the City’s tax base and revenue. It’s considered a catalyst for the revitalization of the North end of Berea.

Before his promotion, Jenkins spent seven seasons as the Executive Vice-President and the COO. He joined the Browns in October 2004 as a Financial and Business Analyst and held multiple leadership roles in finance and administration over the years.

He participated in the National Football League’s (NFL’s) management training program at the Stanford University (private university in Stanford, California) in 2007 and was a member of the Leadership Cleveland Class of 2009 (a 10-month program focused on developing collaborative leadership skills and deepening civic understanding within the Cleveland community).

New York (US)-based the National Football League (NFL) is a professional American football league in the United States. Composed of 32 teams, it is divided equally between the American Football Conference and the National Football Conference.
