Renderings of a possible domed stadium for the National Football League (NFL) team Kansas City Chiefs have been floated around to Kansas (US) lawmakers recently.

‘kmbc.com’ stated that the renderings were done by MANICA Architecture, an architecture firm that’s designed several stadiums across the United States.

The Kansas City Chiefs are a professional American football team based in Kansas City, Missouri (US). The Chiefs compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the league’s American Football Conference West division.

The 76,416-capacity GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium is an American football stadium in Kansas City, Missouri. It primarily serves as the home venue of the Kansas City Chiefs of the National Football League (NFL).

The 2024 Coliseum Summit US will be held at the GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium, Kansas City, from June 5th-6th. An ice-breaker event including a stadium tour will be held at the 11,500-capacity CPKC Stadium in Kansas City (June 4th), home arena of the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) team Kansas City Current. There will also be behind-the-scenes tours of the Arrowhead Stadium and the 18,467-capacity Children’s Mercy Park in Kansas City, the home of the Major League Soccer (MLS) team Sporting Kansas City.

Kansas City (US)-based MANICA Architecture provides its clients with the unique combination of large-scale project experience and the personality and creativity of a boutique international design studio. Unlike many large architectural firms that specialize in projects of similar scale, MANICA is dedicated to ensuring that all of its clients are given the personal attention and unparalleled expertise they deserve.

Informed David Manica, President and Founder of MANICA Architecture, “The design offers Kansas City the potential for an incredible new home for the Chiefs – and a modern stadium that brings Kansas City new opportunities to host a Super Bowl, the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Final Fours Championships and a wider variety of concerts and family shows than ever before.”

New York (US)-based the National Football League (NFL) is a professional American football league that consists of 32 teams, divided equally between the American Football Conference and the National Football Conference.

The Super Bowl is the annual league championship game of the National Football League (NFL) of the United States. It has served as the final game of every NFL season since 1966, replacing the NFL Championship Game. Since 2022, the game has been played on the second Sunday in February. The Kansas City Chiefs are the latest champions.

The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) is a nonprofit organization that regulates student athletics among about 1,100 schools in the United States, and one in Canada. It also organizes the athletic programs of colleges and helps over 500,000 college student-athletes who compete annually in college sports. The organization is headquartered in Indianapolis, Indiana.

The Kansas lawmakers have been working on a STAR bonds proposal in order to entice the Chiefs and/or the Major League Baseball (MLB) team Kansas City Royals to come across State lines.

The STAR bonds are a State-run program that allows the Municipalities to finance the development of major projects. The Municipalities issue bonds to pay for construction, which are then paid off by future sales tax revenues.

‘kmbc.com’ further stated that the location of the stadium would be located in Wyandotte County near The Legends (shopping mall) and the 48,000-capacity Kansas Speedway (car racing track in Kansas City).

It would be a state-of-the-art, multiuse NFL stadium, including an amphitheater and a new modern training facility with indoor and outdoor fields, plus plenty of parking for tailgating.

Added Manica, “With this new stadium, the fans in Kansas City will enjoy a new level of comfort and amenity that the existing Arrowhead could never offer. The design concept is inspired by the form and spirit of our historic Arrowhead Stadium, but it offers more diversity in the variety of experiences it will offer its fans.”

The Chiefs have not commented on the renderings.

Neither the Chiefs nor the Royals have put out any timeline for announcing any future stadium plans.
