Las Vegas Grand Prix road to be rebuilt

Not only will the Las Vegas Strip section of the Las Vegas Grand Prix road circuit be rebuilt for the race, the entire 3.8-mile route will be rebuilt for the F1 road race set for Las Vegas (US) in November 2023.

‘Las Vegas SportsBiz’ quoted Steve Hill, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and President of the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA) as informing that the above is no repaving job. The rebuild of the 14-turn road circuit will involve work crews digging a foot deep and rebuilding the entire length of the route.

The Las Vegas Grand Prix is a planned Formula One Grand Prix due to form part of the 2023 Formula One World Championship, with the event taking place in Las Vegas, Nevada (US), on a temporary street circuit including the Las Vegas Strip.

The Las Vegas Strip is a stretch of Las Vegas Boulevard South in Clark County, Nevada (US), which is known for its concentration of resort hotels and casinos. The Strip, as it is known, is about 4.2 mi (6.8 km) long, and is immediately South of the Las Vegas City limits in the unincorporated towns of Paradise and Winchester, but is often referred to simply as ‘Las Vegas’.

The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA) are a Government agency and the official destination marketing organization for Southern Nevada. It was founded by the Nevada Legislature in 1955.

‘Las Vegas SportsBiz’ further stated that Hill expects the road construction to start in April or sometime in the second quarter of 2023.

The route will be a counter-clockwise circuit and include other roads like the Koval Lane, Sands Avenue and Harmon Avenue. There will be a 1.2-mile section on the Strip, a Southbound stretch of the Las Vegas Boulevard.

In May, the LVCVA tourism agency approved a $19.5 million deal with F1 for three years.

Formula One (F1) is the highest class of international racing for open-wheel single-seater formula racing cars sanctioned by the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile.
