Eteria consortium appointed for arena in Milan Image: David Chipperfield

CTS EVENTIM, a leading international provider of ticketing services and live entertainment, has started the second phase of construction of what will become Italy’s biggest and most modern multifunctional indoor arena.

‘eventim’ stated that the Arena in Milan’s Santa Giulia area will open up new opportunities for entertainment and sports events and provide an unprecedented level of service for artistes, promoters and fans alike – all in an innovative and sustainable venue.

As the developer and future operator of the Arena, the CTS EVENTIM has appointed the Italian construction consortium ETERIA as the General Contractor. The consortium comprises two of Italy’s major industrial groups, Itinera (ASTM Group) and Vianini Lavori (Caltagirone Group). The partners have years of experience in realizing large-scale projects, and their efficiency, skill and reliability will bring the highest degree of certainty to EVENTIM’s Arena project.

CTS EVENTIM is a German company in the leisure-events market, with ticketing and live entertainment, headquartered in Bremen (Germany). It is one of the largest companies in Germany by market capitalization.

CTS EVENTIM is one of the leading international providers of ticketing services and live entertainment with more than 250 million tickets marketed per year using the company’s systems – via physical box offices, online, or from mobile devices. Its online portals include brands such as eventim.de, oeticket.com, ticketcorner.ch, ticketone.it, and entradas.com.

The promoter network EVENTIM LIVE is recognized as the third largest promoter in the world, according to Pollstar’s global promoter ranking 2022. Its concert, tour and festival promoter companies sold more than 20 million tickets in 2022 for events. In addition, CTS EVENTIM operates some of Europe’s most renowned venues.

In June 2021, ETERIA was founded with the desire to pool the industrial experience and longstanding expertise of two of Italy’s leading industrial groups – the Caltagirone Group and the Gavio Group (ASTM), to contribute to the country’s infrastructural revitalization through the construction of complex works.

ETERIA looks to the future and the revitalization of Italy, creating value and ensuring increasing competitiveness to serve the country by guaranteeing knowhow, skills as well as a solid capital and financial capacity to face the Italian market of public and private works.

‘eventim’ further stated that the CTS EVENTIM previously demonstrated its abilities when, in collaboration with the subsoil engineering company Trevi, it completed the first construction phase (the pile foundation) in only three months, wrapping it up on time within the schedule. With ETERIA now on board, the project will moves seamlessly into the second phase and construction continues without delay.

Commented Klaus-Peter Schulenberg, head honcho of CTS EVENTIM, “We are proud to be able to collaborate with highly qualified partners with whom we share the goal of creating a new iconic landmark for Milan and an innovative, multipurpose space that will become a focal point for sports and live entertainment not only for Milan but for all of Italy.”

The Arena, which was designed by the British architect David Chipperfield in collaboration with the international engineering firm Arup, will have a capacity of 16,000 and will be framed by a plaza offering more than 10,000 square meters of space for Summer festivals and outdoor events.
