Project management decided for new arena in Frankfurt Image: HHVision and AS+P

The Sportpark Stadion Frankfurt am Main Gesellschaft für Projektentwicklungen mbH (SSF) has awarded the project management contract for the construction of a new multipurpose arena in Frankfurt (Germany) at the stadium site.

‘frankfurt.de’ stated that a consortium consisting of PROPROJEKT Planungsmanagement and Projektberatung GmbH and IFS Institut für Sportstättenberatung GmbH won the contract following a Europe-wide tender process and will be responsible for the overall coordination and management of the major project.

The PROPROJEKT Planungsmanagement and Projektberatung GmbH, based in Frankfurt am Main (Germany), specialize in consulting, development and management of complex large-scale projects in the sports and event sector. The company has been involved in numerous national and international stadium and arena projects.

The IFS Institut für Sportstättenberatung GmbH, based in Bielefeld (Germany) complements the consortium with its extensive experience in project management, cost control and technical coordination of large construction projects, particularly the sports and event venues.

‘frankfurt.de’ further stated that the appointed team will support the SSF in all matters relating to scheduling, cost and quality control as well as in coordinating the planning and construction processes. The goal is efficient and transparent project execution to ensure the arena is completed on time, sustainably and on budget.

Explained Head of Sports Mike Josef, “By awarding the project management contract to two experienced and recognized partners we are creating the organizational prerequisites for the professional implementation of the next project phases. PROPROJEKT and IFS possess proven expertise in managing complex, large-scale projects and will make a significant contribution to the successful advancement of this project which is of great importance to Frankfurt and the region.”

The new multipurpose arena will be built in the immediate vicinity of the existing stadium and will serve as a modern venue for sports, concerts and other major events. The future home venue will offer new development potential, particularly for the Frankfurt Skyliners (professional basketball club based in Frankfurt, Germany) and Löwen Frankfurt (a professional ice hockey team based in Frankfurt, Germany) teams. The project also strengthens Frankfurt’s position as a sports and cultural center and makes a significant contribution to the further development of Frankfurt’s sports facilities.

The contract was awarded following a Europewide tender process which was legally advised by the law firm FPS Rechtsanwälte.
