Marchetta signed to run Arizona venues

ASM Global has named long-time executive Ralph Marchetta as regional vice president of live entertainment as the world’s largest portfolio accelerates its live-entertainment product growth.

Marchetta will be in charge of booking Desert Diamond Arena — in the midst of an ambitious, significant renovation being spearheaded with ASM Global investment / oversight — and State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona.

Marchetta will also play a key role as part of ASM Global’s burgeoning, comprehensive content-development matrix that includes the ASM Global regional booking team, which is made up of arena bookers and theater bookers who serve as an additional layer of booking support to all ASM Global clients.

The 18,300-capacity Desert Diamond Arena is an indoor multipurpose entertainment arena located in Glendale, Arizona (US). The venue anchors the 223-acre, $1 billion Westgate Entertainment District.

Nestled in the heart of Glendale, the Westgate Entertainment District offers a dazzling display of specialty shops, eateries and entertainment with a unique sense of community.

Desert Diamond Arena has hosted numerous concerts and events of note since opening in December 2003. A string of concerts in the arena’s inaugural year included performances by the American singer-songwriter Prince, the British rock and pop singer and songwriter Rod Stewart, the American country music singer Toby Keith, American singer Britney Spears, and the American singer-songwriter Usher.

The 63,400-capacity State Farm Stadium is a multipurpose retractable roof stadium in Glendale, Arizona, West of Phoenix (US). It is the home of the Arizona Cardinals of the National Football League (NFL).

Announcing Marchetta’s appointment, Jason Rio, ASM Global senior vice president of live entertainment and content development, said, “We are incredibly excited to have someone of Ralph’s stature join our team.

Marchetta comes to ASM Global from Phoenix Footprint Center, where as long-time general manager and senior vice president, he oversaw all operations and services, including servicing multiple sports teams that include the Phoenix Suns, Phoenix Mercury, and the NBA and WNBA.

He was involved in hundreds of major concerts, including U2, Eagles, Erick Clapton, Bruce Springsteen, George Strait, Madonna, Paul McCartney, The Rolling Stones, Juan Gabriel and many more.

He also has a lengthy track record of involvement in many of the region’s key community organizations.
