Home is where you make it. For now the National Basketball Association (NBA) team Dallas Mavericks’ home is at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas (US).

The American Airlines Center is losing buzz and the Mavs Owners – the Adelson family – are planning a “full-blown entertainment district”.

‘dallabasketball.com’ stated that however as the Mavericks Minority Owner Mark Cuban alluded the team won’t play in the arena nuzzled in the Victory Park forever. The Mavericks’ front office recently revealed a plan for a new home.

The Dallas Mavericks are an American professional basketball team based in Dallas. The Mavericks compete in the National Basketball Association (NBA) as a member of the Southwest Division of the Western Conference.

The 20,000-capacity American Airlines Center is a multipurpose indoor arena located in the Victory Park neighborhood in downtown Dallas, Texas (US). The arena serves as the home of the Dallas Stars of the National Hockey League (NHL) and the Dallas Mavericks of the National Basketball Association (NBA).

‘dallabasketball.com’ further stated that since the Mavericks traded Luka Dončić (Slovenian basketball player) to the NBA team Los Angeles Lakers conspiracy theorists have become prevalent in the team’s discourse. Many skeptical Mavericks fans believe the franchise’s ownership wishes to tank morale in Dallas to justify a move to Las Vegas, Nevada.

However, the City officials and the team’s head honcho Rick Welts say otherwise.

Although the Mavericks’ lease with the American Airlines Center expires by the 2031-2032 seasons the franchise and the City are brainstorming plans for a new building.

Kimberly Bizor Tolbert, Dallas City Manager, sent out a statement which read, “We are committed to the long-term relationship we have established with them and are working closely with the team officials to keep them in Dallas – where they belong.”

The Mavericks are in their 45th season as an NBA franchise. Dallas is the fifth largest market in the United States. For the league to allow such mistreatment of a fan base proven to support its team, especially when it’s successful, and lose a market of such magnitude would make no sense from a business standpoint.

The National Basketball Association (NBA) is a professional basketball league in North America composed of 30 teams (29 in the United States and 1 in Canada). The NBA is one of the major professional sports leagues in the United States and Canada and is considered the premier professional basketball league in the world. The league is headquartered in Midtown Manhattan.

From what Tolbert stated the City is firmly behind keeping the Mavericks in Dallas.

Meanwhile, Welts, known for helping bring the NBA team – the Golden State Warriors – to a newer arena in the 18,064-capacity Chase Center in San Francisco, California, is committed to doing the same for the Mavericks.

Maintained Welts, “What we’re saying to the City is we want to exhaust every possible option in the City of Dallas before considering pivoting to another location in the Metroplex. That’s our commitment. That’s our desire. That’s the outcome we want to be doing this project in the City of Dallas.”

It’s no secret that the Adelson family (Majority Owners of the Mavericks) wishes to create a multifaceted experience for their customers who come to watch the Mavericks. Striving to legalize gambling in Texas they aim to create a “full-blown entertainment district” as a catch-all pursuit for the casuals and the hardcore fans of the team.

While the Mavericks have time left in the American Airlines Center given their current bleak situation the building doesn’t have the buzz it did when Dončić paraded through its walls. Perhaps a new building and by 2031 no Nico Harrison as the team’s General Manager the fans can feel better about rooting for such a team.
