NHL returning to Europe Image: Nokia Arena

The National Hockey League (NHL) (US) is going back to Europe this Fall for its first games outside of North America since the start of the pandemic.

The ‘KESQ’ stated that the NHL teams San Jose Sharks and Nashville Predators will play two games in Prague (Czech Republic) in October this year, and the Colorado Avalanche and the Columbus Blue Jackets will play two games in Tampere, Finland, in November as part of the 2022 Global Series.

The National Hockey League (NHL) is a professional ice hockey league in North America comprising 32 teams – 25 in the United States and 7 in Canada. It is considered to be the premier professional ice hockey league in the world, and is one of the major professional sports leagues in the United States and Canada.

The ‘KESQ’ further stated that the last NHL game in Europe was held in November 2019 when the Tampa Bay Lightning and Buffalo Sabres faced off in Stockholm (Sweden).

The Nashville Predators was set to open the 2020-2021 seasons in Prague against the Boston Bruins before the pandemic scrapped the NHL’s plans.
