Rhode Island FC team announced Image: Rhode Island FC

Rhode Island (US) has secured its very own professional men’s soccer team, aptly named the Rhode Island FC.

The Ocean State (Rhode Island) team is already making ‘waves’ with more than 1,000 season ticket deposits sold in the first hour of sales on November 14th for the new professional men’s soccer team’s USL Championship debut in 2024.

‘Rhode Island FC’ stated that anchored in community, united by sport, it is a team for all of Rhode Island.

On November 14th, the club unveiled its team colors – a deep navy and golden yellow combo – as well as an iconic crest that draws inspiration from symbols that are unique to Rhode Island. The club identity and crest were developed with input from hundreds of Rhode Islanders representing nearly every City and town in the State as well as a diverse array of cultures and experiences over several months.

The Rhode Island FC is an upcoming American professional soccer club located in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, US. The club is planned to debut in the USL Championship in 2024. The 7,500-capacity Tidewater Landing Stadium in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, will be the club’s home.

The USL Championship is a professional men’s soccer league in the United States that began its inaugural season in 2011. The USL is sanctioned by the United States Soccer Federation as a Division II league since 2017, placing it under Major League Soccer (MLS) in the hierarchy. The USL is headquartered in Tampa, Florida.

The Tidewater Landing development, on the banks of the Seekonk River in Pawtucket, is a gamechanger for both the City of Pawtucket and the State of Rhode Island (US). A multiuse stadium will be the anchor of the development which will include housing, restaurants, retail stores, and recreational amenities.

The project has the in-progress 10,000-seat United Soccer League (USL) soccer stadium as its centerpiece and also features many thousands of square feet of commercial space and hundreds of housing units.

A historic development opportunity that will completely transform Pawtucket’s riverfront and support economic growth in the Blackstone Valley and Rhode Island for years to come. Tidewater Landing will be the largest economic development project in the history of Pawtucket.

‘Rhode Island FC’ further stated that the Rhode Island FC crest is bold, unique and iconic to the people and place that represent their small but proud State. All of this is a direct result from listening to the community on what they wanted in this club and their crest. The Rhode Island FC is a team for every Rhode Islander.
